- Bio
- Born in the oil and gas deposit-rich region of North Texas, on the fraying edge of the Permian Basin, my mother was a special ed teacher, my father, a “pumper,” a far more glamorous job among the petroletariat than the name would indicate. I managed to escape the small town that spawned me promptly after High School graduation, a modicum of sanity still intact to ride shotgun with my generous portions of anger and resentment. Some five years later, I copped a BS degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Said institution and I gladly parted ways. In the intervening 20-plus years, though my only ambition has been to have ambition, I have miraculously coughed-up a boatload of freelance articles, a couple of books of dubious merit, and a metric ton of songs of occasionally inspired quality, not to mention a paralegal certificate, 11 years of experience as a legal underling, and tens of thousands of bicycle commuter miles.

Parker and her partner
Much noise has been made outside the Lone Star State about Houston
electing Annise Parker, an unabashed lesbian, to that City's

It appears that the French Far Right Party of Jacques LePen is trying to force-feed foreign minister Frederic Mitterrand his own words, and with very good reason. In a battle of "French Politics - The Next Generation," the daughter of LePen,… Read full post »
It seemed to be a typical morning. I had slept peacefully in my cave of a casita on Wednesday night and right into Thursday morning, August 20, 2009. I arose around 8am, which is very early for me, had an apple, some watermelon and prepared for one of my twice weekly… Read full post »

I remember him vaguely. That's how I remember most of high school- vaguely, be it the chemicals or the desire to forget the whole debacle. I think he played some sports, and, maybe, just maybe, he was in the band. Did he play trumpet? I/…

STATES RIGHTS! STATES RIGHTS! Governor Rick Perry's Speech at Austin Tea Party Rally, 4/15/09-- with some more pics from the rally.
It's a little scary how much he sounds like GW Bush, at times. Even scarier is the shades of George Wallace.

I felt really really Fellini-esque, running backwards to get this shot. Governor Rick Perry (left) leaving Austin City Hall after speaking at the 11:30 am Austin Tea Party Rally. I have no idea who that is with him. Anyone know? I hated that damn cap the Guv was wearing.… Read full post »
