Bio
I am a Berkeley native earning my M.A in English from California State University East Bay. I earned my B.A in English from the University of Oregon. Before I left for Oregon, I took the Bay Area for granted; now I find it damn difficult to imagine living anywhere else. I spent over a year volunteering, as an editor, for Cal State's premiere literary magazine, Arroyo. Now that I have finished my class work, at Cal State, I miss being involved in the literary community; so here I am, searching for a publishing internship. In my free time, I like to write (currently developing a creative thesis, featured on this blog), read (I am studying for an exit exam in 20th Century American Literature, which, believe you me, is no joke), and spend as much time as possible soaking up the summer sun.

Ramen Noodles

I first discovered my step-dad’s Hustler magazines when I was ten. My mother wasn’t home, he was. It must have been the early afternoon, because he just offered to make me lunch—ramen noodles. He cooked/Read full post »

The Anatomy of a One Night Stand

Part I: Growing Pains

It’s the last day of school. Jack—a graduating senior—runs down the Liberal Art Building hallway, stopping at room 314, his Creative Writing professor’s office. He knocks on the door, hunching over, dropping both hands to his knees, gasping for air.
