It's Not Really My Own Little World Anymore

I suppose that I should give some sort of Bio - I'm a superannuated Boston transplant to the Seattle area who came out when the bottom fell out of the Telecom industry a few years back. Engineering just ain't what it used to be and it's unlikely it ever will be again. I'll get over it. I've lived here for five years and doubt that I'll ever get used to the west coast. That may not be a bad thing.

==========================================

Greetings From Sunny Seattle

Well, actually it was sunny today, except for the part where it really rained cats & dogs this morning. Winter (and Spring) in Seattle is like those two weeks of April in New England that make you want to open a vein, except that they stretch on for four months. I don't really mean to bitch about the weather though,  it's been done unto death and at least you don't have to shovel rain.

The dog in the avatar is Boris, an 18-month old Pembroke Corgi, who weighs about 40 lbs, 10 lbs over the normal top end for the breed.  He's not overweight, he's just a huge dog. Hence the "-saurus" moniker my son gave him.

I wanted to follow up on the NYT article posted this morning re: the Khalil Gibran International Academy, but I though that I might wait until I got home from work and actually finished reading the article. I really found the actions of the "Stop the Madrassa Coalition" horrifying and wondered why they weren't wearing robes and hoods made out of sheets. The actions of the city government, and Mayor Bloomberg in particular, are enraging. Lord knows, I don't expect much in the way of spine from politicians, but I'm really underwhelmed.

The New York Post acted true to its Fox-News-In-Print-Format roots. A deliberate misquote solely to raise controversy and support a pre-determined outcome, the gutter press at its finest. It's obvious that Obama's African-American that's going to hurt him if he gets as far as the general anywhere near as bad as his name will.

so few things change, perhaps everyone should own a Corgi, then at least we all could be happy.
John, you've been here a long time and a first post is something one never forgets. R
Hi Guys, Boris and Natasha (his littermate, who also lives with us) will be 5 years old on Friday. They're not puppies any longer, but very affectionate grown dogs. Our Lab, Buddy, who was Boris' hero had a stroke this Spring and is no longer with us. Boris has had to get the hang of being the top dog, despite his sister's bossines, which he has done quite well.

Barry, everyone should definitely have a Corgi, or ten, but you need to be aware that despite their small size, their herding instinct is quite strong and they're very intelligent - in short, they might end up owning you.

Actually Wendy, I've been away for awhile, most definitely *n0t* a flounce, and hope to have enough to say to start posting again soon.
