First impressions of the debate were:
1. Who is McCain’s VP choice, Palin or Lieberman? He mentioned, by my count, Lieberman four times and nary a mention of Palin.
2. Speaking of Afghanistan, McCain said “we drove the Russians out” and quickly changed that to the “Afghan Freedom Fighters”. Was it really a gaffe, or was McCain speaking truth the first time?
I thought Obama won. He looked more poised and comfortable. He refused to allow McCain bully him and his answers, to me, were far more truthful. Also, McCain was obviously wedded to his notion of giving tax cuts to even the very rich, and I am not sure they need additional tax cuts after eight years of George W. Bush.
