Don’t let yourselves be fooled by The National Chinese Puppet Theater,
They don’t want you to look behind the curtain to see their stingers—
The largest country on earth to evolve up from insects—
Where they eat cats and dogs and lie, cheat and steal—
Where Mao sits atop his perch in hell to this day
Overseeing the torture, rape, immolation and hangings—
Where they kill their daughters and throw the limp bodies in the well,
Or bury them alive or just drown them in the river,
Holding the girl’s head underwater while old men sodomize them
And then their mothers, or slit their throats and marry them off to corpses,
And then light candles to their ancestors in solemn ritual ceremonies,
And pray for rain and then when their houses get washed away
And the rice paddies flood they complain to The National Chinese Puppet Theater
But no one there is listening because their terrified of the bureaucracy
And frozen rigid by protocol like the stone soldiers of the Forbidden City
Except the Red Guard who then puts them away
And they never speak up again unless they want to get beat down
Or shot down with hollow-point bullets or run over with tanks
In Tiananmen Square where they’re over a billion strong
With not a single mind among them, where the law is one kid per family
Until some random psychotic shows up to slit their throats at school,
Liu Xiaobo, where are you, doing time standing on your head
Or waiting in line for your piece of bread or waiting to use a computer
At an Internet café where Fulún GaÂng and Christianity can wait behind you,
Where The National Chinese Puppet Theater pays you to sing Drunken pop songs in a Karaoke bar although everyone hates Japan,
The puppet whores will take their yen because their children have to eat
Or the Japanese will eat them and the North Koreans will steal them
And the dogs will bark until they’re eaten and the cats will meow
Until they’re eaten but the monkeys run free unless they’re Tibetan Buddhists
Then it’s tear gas in the streets but if they’re Uyghur it’s bullets and punches—
Article 105, Paragraph 2, 1997 Criminal Code of the People's Republic of China (translation by Wei Luo): "Anyone who uses rumor, slander or other means to encourage subversion of the political power of the State or to overthrow the socialist system, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years.
