That's the title of Garrison Keillor's article recently published (July 2009) in National Geographic Magazine. But I think Mr. Keillor missed one of the greatest state fair joys: To spend time with friend, real or imagined, in a fantasy land.
When I read Lea Lane's post A Conehead at the Fair: A Summer Tale, I knew that having an Open Salon meet up at the great State Fair of Texas would be a perfect match. We could meet friends, spend some time chatting and then disburse, either in singles or groups, to explore the Fair.
There is so much fodder for blogs at the Fair for both writers and photographers. And with the extreme interest in food on Open Salon, how can you stand to miss the many food demonstrations and contests, let alone the largest gathering of fried foods know to man and woman?
So come to Dallas the weekend of September 25 - 27 and experience a real life OS gathering plus the State Fair of Texas. But I can't promise that you'll come away with photos like bbd's.
