Back in the Beta Days, not to be confused with The Good Old Days, I would occasionally put up a photograph and ask for users to identify the location. Today, with a global readership, it would be impossible for me keep many guessing.
But in honor of Independence Day, I'm presently the following as a Mega Photo Geo Quiz. You can send your answers by private message or post in the comment section, referencing the number of the photo. My husband and I are going to see an exhibit about Leonardo da Vinci at a local museum, so I won't be responding for hours.
(Most of these are old family photos that I have scanned from slides and the quality is less than perfect.)
Have fun.

My first thought was that number 1 was the Austin Statesman newspaper office, but that seems to say "author" so I'm probably wrong.
I think Number 4 has a clue in plain sight :)
Number 7 is the nation's capitol? Number 9 looks like the Smoky Mountains.
I don't know what Number 13 is, but I LOVE the photo! And that last one may be a gimme to you, but it's a mystery to me.
Here you go:
Number One -- taken many years ago at Franklin Court, a tribute to Franklin maintained by NPS on the site of his home. I don't know if this particular display is still there, but I have always thought it was cool.

Number Two - another bit of Americana, but one that really would have been impossible for anyone to identify in particular. This was a small circus setting up in the parking lot of a local mall in the late 70s. I just liked the geometry.
Number Three - America the beautiful and bountiful. Taken in the fall of 1977 as our family drove from PA to CA, probably somewhere in Nebraska.
Number Four - Main Street, Disneyland, USA. The woman in the hat is my mother.
Number Five - the Pacific Ocean, seen from the window of my parents' home at the time in Santa Barbara, CA. The figures below are my children who were ages 1 and 2.5 at the time and their father.
Number Six - U. S. Capitol building.
Number Seven - terribly lit scene from Kutztown Folk Festival. If you live near SE PA and haven't been -- go!

Number Eight - Philadelphia Museum of Art in the spring.
Number Nine - Blue Ridge Mountains, seen from our tent in Shenandoah National Park.
Number Ten - Monticello, Charlottesville, VA
Number Eleven - viewing the Mummers' Parade from in front of City Hall, Philadelphia, PA
Number Twelve - historic recreation, Valley Forge, PA
Number Thirteen - on the beach, Ocean City, NJ
Number Fourteen - The Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC
Thanks for stopping by. :)
