And so we look forward to new times, to a renewed sense of happiness and perhaps even parts of Life still unexplored, as we release what has happened in the past. But even as we look forward to some new adventure in Life, we may not know exactly how to set out on this part of our journey, or somewhere we may never have ventured before.
We may not know how to trust in this Universe that always Loves us!
How can we know that our journey stretches out joyfully before us? How can this Universe put before us all that we need as we set out with a new vision of Life?
When we begin to create a new Dream that is a part of who we are, the pieces that compose that Dream begin to flow together. While our perception may feel limited to what we can actually see before us, the very act of holding the Dream in mind activates the energy that manifests it for us!
Energy wavelengths that match that vision begin to amass, and as their mass becomes denser, we feel the momentum that brings the realization of that vision to Life.
What we may sometimes lose track of—or sometimes we’ve never learned this amazing fact in the first place—is that Divine Love says, “Yes!” to our thoughts and our Dreams every time! The Divine Love that powers our Universe, that sets all the energies into play and re-creates endless patterns of energy in each infinitesimal moment, always creates what we ask it to create!
The Universe itself, composed as it is of Divine Love, actually serves as a neutral backdrop to what we individually want to create. Wavelengths of energy will arrange and rearrange themselves according to the frequency that we send forth, or literally emit through our thoughts.
So holding a vision for the Life that we want to create, for a Dream that’s authentic and that comes from our heart, will always create that Dream for us in the unseen parts of our Universe!
Our work then is to learn how to work with the energy so we can live the Dream that has been answered with a resounding, “Yes!” to us. That is the eternal promise of Divine Love!
It is this little-understood aspect of the Universe, or this aspect that we possibly haven’t practiced working with quite enough, that makes our intent and our choices so important. Our choosing of each thought, each desire, each avenue that we go down, is the very basis of our Life—and the Living example of Free Will!
As people, we have all learned negative reactions and ideas of lack from others who have come before us, as well as from the systems and situations that were created in the past. So while people may say, “no,” and may actually believe in limitations that would circumscribe our lives, our Universe of Divine Love always, always says, “Yes!”
As we start out from this point, wherever we are at this moment in Life, we can decide to bring a new understanding to all that is given to us by our Universe and Divine Love! We can move past the lack of Knowing that would tell us that we cannot Live the way we wish. And in our new understanding, we can realize that any limitation or lack that we perceive is simply being mirrored back to us!
The gift of Divine Love in this Universe where we Live our physical Life is that whenever we each would like something new, something different, something better in Life, the message to us all is, “Begin again!”
And we can Know in our hearts that our Loving Universe is right here with us, offering us our creations as we Dream our Dreams!

But this is not how the universe works. The universe just is. It is pitiless. It neither favors us nor wishes us ill. It has no overall consciousness. It is complex beyond our current understanding, and might always be. But the logical errors are myriad in the ideas of Gaia and supreme consciousness.
We can't bend reality to our intentions or will with hope alone. Energy is not an aura or plasma or sentient thing. Energy is simply potential work, work done according to special rules at the macro level according to the laws of thermodynamics and the well tested ideas of physics, and at the subatomic level by quantum forces.
Wishing does not make it so.
But you and I have common ground here: we can orient ourselves to positive ideas, work for justice, show compassion, understand the universality of suffering and thus diminish it, one person at a time. Because this kind of self discipline results in behavior changes, it has a positive effect on relationships and our world. There is nothing metaphysical, supernatural or magic about it. It's hard work. It's beautiful work.
I feel ecstasy and sacredness and feelings of the divine, but these are built into our biology. These are all subsets of the human experience of life. Compassion feels good to give and to receive. Justice makes us feel safe. Co-operation reinforces the biological imperatives of sustenance, and continuing ourselves with our beloved children.
We are lucky to have sentience. Is it not enough that we get to coalesce as matter for a short while, that we are the way the universe can know itself?
Promoting the idea that one can bend reality with one's mind is ultimately contrary to compassion. "The Secret" is a cruel book, adhered to by those who fail to think through this philosophy, how it blames the poor and the victims of venality and brute force.
Those children with UZIs in the Congo are not failing to perform the mind power thing correctly. They are helpless victims of greed and rage. Social justice and political action corrects these things.
When boycotts free a Mandela who then promotes compassion? we thrive and soar.
No sky pixies, no pretense at magic forces at work. Just us lucky apes.
We both love peace, love and understanding. Embracing it is good, a profound act, true, but it is just that; "embracing "has to be stripped of phony supernaturalism. And then paired with the hard, boring, incremental work of real change and effective responses.

I can't tell you how much I love Amma in India and the work she does for people everywhere. As spiritual leaders do, she often speaks in parables that are specific to her culture so that people can understand what is beyond our understanding -- and she also speaks to the Universal, so far ahead of what our own understanding may just be opening up to...
Yes, what exists beyond this Universe, the physical, is Love. So much of her wisdom and understanding informs my own and my writing. If there is any human on Earth who actually embodies Love, she is it!
(Though many do, and all of us are that Love, in any case!)

But what's true is so true here, from you: we are here for God/the Universe/Source to know itself, for sure! (Why else?) And so much more about Love, Peace, Compassion, the Hard Work, and Helping Others... etc.
I know you know this isn't a treatise on Logic! To me, so much of the appeal of this whole area of study and Knowing is that it's so much more vast, intellectually and otherwise, than any simple realm, such as Logic.
(Then again, I'm not a linear thinker by nature -- though I can do it if I have to. Personality-test wise, I come up as extreme of artist stereotype, think in symbols, patterns, global pools,
To me, this realm of study is about the Nature of the Universe and how we integrate ourselves more seamlessly into that – largely with our minds, the immense power of which is mostly untapped… But people are always evolving, thankfully, so I’ll look at moving forward rather than at where we are or have been…
It's the open-ended questions, and the questions that we haven't even thought of yet, that intrigue me...
I see this subject matter as I see any other in Life: all are invited, but it’s not to be forced upon anyone!
I know, too, that you are using words like “wishing” and “supernatural” in ways that are silly (which sounds nicer to me than facile or even superficial) rather than powerful, and I know your greater Nature from what I’ve seen you say beyond that. So, we won’t play word police here! (I Love the medium of words too much to reduce them to that game!)
Here’s the story behind The Secret, though, for anyone who may be interested, if I’m recounting it accurately. The Australian producer who wanted to make the video for TV was actually censored by Australian TV? – and all of the energy references (to “vibrations” or frequencies) were omitted from the work. Which is the crux of the matter.
The Secret was originally inspired by and documenting the workshops and teachings of Esther and Jerry Hicks, and their channeled teachings of Abraham. www.abraham-hicks. In it, they teach the hard work of incremental progress (in energy shifts), as you say, though I’ll warn anyone who’s interested that they make the work inspiring and wholeheartedly Loving! Accessibility is certainly part of the curve for teaching… (Their “emotional scale” is worth looking up!)
(And don’t let anyone, Teacher or otherwise, tell you they have The Answer for you! Though many people may like trying to take that position, thinking like this always tells you to go within! Authoritarianism in any form is never the way to wisdom!)
I’d just say if anyone feels like they’re living behind a fenced-in perimeter, with fences built by others, then I Know where a wide-open field is! Come play! And we’re joyful when we’re here…

What you say about not being able to control things for others is absolutely true! We cannot change energy for someone else -- and it's actually not our place to, no matter how much we'd like to.
We do always affect one another by interaction with or even near or even on this plane (quantum level, anyone?) -- but we can't change energy for someone else. It has to be something we each seek for ourselves. Once someone asks for that "help" or change, they open themselves to the possibility of different energies in themselves, and thus to that help that we may want to offer...
It's interesting, and a vast concept/context for human experience -- how we each are individual as part of a global Unity, say... And not everyone wants to delve into that kind of thinking...
But, if we would like to change energy for ourselves, we certainly can -- and there's an ever-expanding field that helps us to learn how to from simple notions to more complex ones!
As to the neutral Universe, what I'm really talking about -- though not with a lot of explanation right here -- is that the Universe will reflect back to us whatever energy we put out ourselves, whether positive or negative. This neutral backdrop doesn't judge and filter for us -- doesn't deliver something different from what we deliver, say, to it.
In this way, the Universe is saying, "Yes!" to whatever we do. Which is an interesting place to start, conceptually, if we'd like to bring something new and different into our own lives. The part I'm interested in, of course, is the movement to Joy, Love, Appreciation, Bliss!
But the Universe is equally powerful and equally responsive and equally affirmative if the energy goes in another direction...
As we say that some things are out of our control, we could just as easily say that some things are out of our energy range of the moment, which is true! But can we change our own personal energy of the moment? Don't we already do that day to day, all the time? Can we develop a better personal mastery of it?
I say yes, with enthusiasm!!

We do fundamentally disagree about an underlying consciousness, and Love being an entity or force intrinsic to the universe.
But it is useful to act As If It were True. (up to a point)
Being optimistic, expecting the best of others, leavened with practical observation, is simply a smart strategy and tactics.
I strongly agree that Authoritarianism is hard on people and not conducive to wisdom. But authority, contingent and transitory, is necessary and good. The expert/master must have a kind of authority over the acolyte/apprentice.
But when learning is done for the day we set aside and play in your fenceless fields! JOY!
If there is one somber thing I went to emphasize it is this: please meditate from time to time on the harm to learning and compassion behind "wishful thinking" that is The Secret and all such beliefs.
The plain truth of the world is: we cannot affect and control it with our minds. You and I find each other on a limited version of this idea, whereby empirical, practical love and forbearance and good association yields good things -- but this is only true in societies where such opportunities are abundant.
The dark side of The Secret is the implication --unavoidable-- that those who fail to master or apply its techniques "deserve" what they get. You and i live where western secular freedoms abound, liberty has been paid for with blood, civil rights are defended, and pursuit of happiness is considered OK. Where militias don't steal our children. And where food and water are good and plentiful
The Secret is a an affluent upper middle class fantasy, and its zealots seem cruel beyond description to the majority of impoverished struggling souls who live in harsh, oppressive and parched environs.
The work of social justice might be -- is! -- inspired by the soaring feelings you nurture in yourself, but are only accomplished with blood, sweat, tears, and material sacrifice.

I have immersed myself in the work and broader study of energy with 4 personal teachers for the past 12 years, starting with a foundation in Chi and Zen Shiatsu, a streamlined, modernized practice based on tenets of Traditional Chinese Medicine, as well as meditation and chakra work from India, fields of knowledge more than 10,000 years old. And my personal study and work expanded from there. I chose my teachers excellently, and the rewards to me have been immense!
I in no way expect you to respect or be interested in this work or this broad field, nor do I think that it is wholly mainstream thinking here in our culture, but I assure you that it has its place in world knowledge and that it is the basis of many belief systems in other cultures.
There are some people here on O.S. who do serious energy and spiritual work who read and communicate with me. And there are others who may not be involved with it, per se, but who feel the appeal of it and appreciate it and who also communicate with me. If it’s not your personal thing, and you choose not to have a broader understanding of what it really is about, then that’s fine, but I’d still say it wouldn’t be your place to denigrate it or take it away from others who do benefit from it.
This energy work and metaphysical work exist as systems of knowledge and wisdom for personal well-being -- physical, psychological, and spiritual -- if we choose to avail ourselves of them. A society composed of people who truly live in well-being also is well itself. The benefits to the whole are exponential, compared to the benefit of the individual. As we all know, myriad other choices exist in our diverse world for the same purpose, too.
I personally am inspired by this vast world of knowledge and am passionate about all of it. My life is enriched beyond measure with it, and my reverence for it is genuine. I love that people in my personal life and in public have shared this knowledge with me, and I am thrilled to be able to share any part of it with others for that very reason!
For topics that you are bringing up here that I haven’t discussed at all – The Secret (which, again, I haven’t read but understand was censored of the actual energy-work basis of the information), socioeconomics, upper-middle class malaise, global crises, civil wars, and more – perhaps your blog is a good forum for that. They’re all worthy subjects, but they aren’t my purpose here at the moment. For excellent work in some of those areas, I’d recommend reading Judy Mandelbaum, Alan Nothnagle, and Zen Haitian, or more.
Here in your comment, you are personally embracing lower energies, starting with judgment and more. I can be compassionate about that, as it is part of the human experience, including my own, of course, but I won’t join you or accommodate you in those lower energies here on my post.
Out of respect for these fields of wisdom themselves, and the work of my invaluable personal teachers, and my own work and even my writing here, I will answer to the integrity of my purpose here: to write light, simple posts about personal energy work, to say that higher frequencies of Love, joy, and bliss exist and are here for us, all around us, at all times, and that accessing them is possible and worthwhile for anyone who genuinely wants to!
If you were speaking with me personally, as others do, I would say that the spiritual message for you is this: “Don’t expect others to live with your limitations. Choose to live as you wish, for everyone does, but don’t expect anyone else to have to live as you do.” It’s good advice for us all!
(And I won’t meditate on harm, because that actually brings more harm into existence. And harm truly only happens to people in lower energies in the first place. My intent is to bring higher energies – more Love, more Joy, more Peace -- to our world. I do meditate for that, in both specific and general terms, all the time. If you or anyone else would genuinely like for me to meditate for something specific, for a positive intent, I happily take requests from people everywhere!)
