Bio
I'm a 60 year old guy who lives in Vista California with my wife. I spent the 30 years before moving to Cali in Iowa, Wisconsin and North Dakota. And I have 2 grown children, a son and a daughter who live in Virginia and Iowa and a 22 year old step-daughter lives with us here in Vista. I'm a proud grandpa with 2 grandaughters living in Virginia. I like to write about a whole variety of things from my kids to cooking to politics to the car industry to my status as a "Cheap Bastid" and "Old Fart" and just random thoughts. And I really love writing about cooking really good, homecooked comfort food cheap. That's why they call me the Cheap Bastid. By the way--all the stuff I write is my stuff and you can't use it without my official OkeyDokey

Hair

For a long time I’ve thought that it was somewhat futile for me to make any big deal out of haircuts.  I started just getting my head peeled with a #2 clipper at least 10 years ago.  It’s just easy that way.  It was 15 years ago that I let a stylist clip me in what she called a “Bruce Willis” and sell me some of what is now called “product”.  Naw, that ain’t me.

So, I went and got peeled this morning.  I’m at that age now where I’ve got more issues with hair growing out of my ears than on my head.  And looking in the mirror last night I noticed that virtually without any warning that there were several maverick eyebrow hairs that had sprouted and were hanging over the lenses of my glasses.  Where the hell do those come from?

Ear hair is fun though.  Many is the time when I’ve been driving on a several hour roadtrip and I’ve had a contest.  From which ear can I pluck the most follicles in one tug?  Sometimes the left ear wins and sometimes the right ear wins.  I tried it with my nostrils but that’s not a good idea at 75 miles an hour.  For one thing popping clusters of nose hairs makes you really tear up.  For another, it makes you sneeze.  Not a good idea in SoCal freeway traffic.  Yeah, business roadtrips can get that boring.

But it’s hot right now and it’s been about 5 weeks since I got a hair cut.  It’s amazing how much cooler your head is when you’ve just gotten it peeled and you don’t have that fur around the sides and back warming you up.  I mention the sides and back because I don’t have enough on top to qualify as anything except a worn out toothbrush. (And no, I'm not going to go Yul Brenner and shave my head).

Now, I have to go trim my beard so it matches—wonder what it’d look like if I just went down to a “goat”?

I did a blog on chin hairs a long time. I will take the chin hairs.. I don't know how you men deal with those ear hairs.... and don't get me started on eyebrows hahaha
Rated with hugs
What would you look like if you went down to a goat....well hell, you would look like an OLD goat; take it from someone who knows.

One of the many, many things I hate about aging is how hair grows everywhere but where it ought to grow. Speaking of hair....it was in the high fifties last night, a sure sign that it Winter is coming on and it is almost time for me to grow my beard back.
Thanks Linda! I have plenty of chin hairs!

Tor--high fifties sounds perfect! Except you know that you've still got lots of potential for those 95 degree 95% humidity days for another month or so! I miss those 4 seasons, my friend. Today, there's all kinds of thunderheads forming but to the east and north over the desert--Mother Nature holding out hope of a thunderbumper to clean off everything, but playing a practical joke on us and not going to deliver.
You haven't had fun until you get those errant chin hairs Walter...trying to see where to pluck without a 10 power magnifying glass is...well, lets just say you forget about the chin hair when things are THAT close.

Funny stuff.
Walter, this is just plain fun reading!!!!! msp
I am sure you would be just as adorable with a goat.
Hair; first it turns gray - then it turns loose. Few things sexier than a bald man ;)

I always remember Bill Cosby talk about going to dinner and then coming home 2 hours later to find a long hair had sprouted on his nose during that time. Funny stuff but oh so true. -R-
Is it just me or do some of us [women] develop a fuzzy peach face like some newborns have?
I'll tell you what I don't understand... guys who let their beard grow, then shave their head. That is just soooo wrong.
This was great. I am Italian. I know something about body hair, not to mention nose hair. I won't pluck those at 75 mph if you won't.
