You can have your “Idol”.  You can have your “X-Factor”.  I’m a huge fan of NBC’s “The Sing Off”.  It’s the only performance show on TV that features vocal music in it’s pure form without histrionics and divas.

The 3^rd season of this show just finished with a night of performances on a “Holiday theme”.  It was just a bit disappointing because I have been hoping for all 3 seasons to hear Christmas music (which is so perfectly suited to this format) performed both for its entertainment value and its inspirational value. 

I’m sure political correctness played a hand in it but for crying out loud they could have done “Sleighride” or even a take on Fred Waring’s incredible “Twas the Night Before Christmas” arrangement complete with some hip-hop.  Oh well.

If you’re still reading this, I’ll move on to a video of the most delightful performance of the night.  This is a group called Urban Method from Denver, Colorado doing the signature piece from “The Grinch That Stole Christmas”.  And it’s good reason why I’ll be watching next fall when the series returns.
