"Wait for it"

Rate: 29 Flag

No photos.

No visuals.

You've got to do this on your own.

Picture IT.

Whatever IT is for you.

No time to be shy.

Give it a try.

For god's sake, don't ask why.

Been a rough day...a date no one will ever forget.

The need to move on is paramount.

Survival of the fittest.

Who said, "Never look back?"

Who cares?

Vampire scares.

What's up with that?

Have we stooped so low?

Biting, sucking, blood driven urges.

Malls, shopping, eating, primping in mirrors.

Splurges.

Don't give in to it.

Momma used to say..."Resist the urge."

Be a good girl.

How does one define, "being a good girl?"

Daddy used to say it too.  Of course he did.

Girls are supposed to get married and have babies.

That was said in our house, too.

Conflicting roles.  Whose was who's?

Don't ask.

You might not like the answer.

Growing up is hard to do.  In quotes.

Get over it.  It's inevitable.

Like everything else.

Do we really have any choices?

Or...or is it, too...inevitable.

By the looks of things, choices seem to be extinct.  Like Koala's almost are.

White or black bears.  One is a dying species and the other just a pain in the neighborhood garbage can.

I like the white ones.  They love to swim and play on islands of ice.

And yet, they stay warm and happy.  They should survive.

Survival is the name of the game.

People do it in all sorts of ways.

Not all of them are so good, are they?

Not all of them are appropriate displays.

Again, who cares.

Rude stares.

Returned glares.

Odd pairs.

Go figure?

"The dawn's early light."

No more beautiful words ever spoken.

Think about it.

So pure.  So fresh. Untouched.  Ever before this moment.

Illuminated in it's glory... its birth.

The second you waken to it, you just know.

Rejoice in the splendor of a new day.

It will never come again.

No matter your beliefs, your perspectives; your feelings...

A new day stands before you, challenging you, taunting you, pleasing you from head to toe...if you are present.

If you are curious, confused, conditioned or confounded...

Stand, open armed, face to the sky, wind blowing through your sails.

Trust nothing.

Embrace everything.

Just wait for it.

"A new day is dawning."
Indeed Cathy. I'm always open and ready for the promist of each new day. Nicely done!
Nice wordsmithing, Cathy. I enjoyed this.
This was so great! This took me on several side trips I will tell you. "Dawn's early light," the most beautiful? Hmmmm....I wonder how someone thought that up? Was he or she sitting out somewhere at sunrise and the first glows were especially vivid? It is a good phrase-a very good phrase. Were the pinks especially vibrant that morning or was there a quick purple that morning? What hatched that thought and then thought up the words to match the thought? Where do these words come from? You got me tripping some.
Sweet, you said so much so well. Nicely done and right to the heart of the matter.
Wonderful poem, I like the way you go between worlds. Some parts even sound like really good rap. I love it.
rated with love.
I like where this goes. fav lines "Trust nothing.

Embrace everything. " r
This is wonderful. It is like a novel in short lines and a social statement all rolled into one. Bravo! R-
I'm a sunset guy, too. Time for reflection and all that, but there is something magical about embrassing a new day and the secrets "it" holds. Nice work, BTW.
Whoa! This is wonderful!! Thank you!! xox
really very nice, Cathy thank you r.
I enjoyed this. Profound. No matter what, there will always be contradictions. We have the power to choose.
Ain't it the truth? We so casually murder time through trivial pursuits, apprehension, and unanalyzed acceptance of received wisdom that we little realize the steely bars it places us behind. Very nice poem, Cathy; pertinent and cleverly done.
Goodness gracious, good morning!

Gorgeous sunrise in the mountains, not a breeze disturbing the views.

Big smiles all around, reading all of your wonderful comments to this late night poetry stream.

Bluestocking babe - Yes, it is a promise kept by the universe that no man can put asunder. Thank you.

Kathy R - Thanks much.

Dr. Spudman 44 - "Got you tripping some!" Awesome where this took you. My job is done here. Thank you!

Lunchlady 2 - "Right to the heart of the matter..." Happy you felt this accidental outcome. Thank you.

Romantic Poetess - ..."really good rap!" That's something I've never attempted but may have to ponder. Thank you very much.
I liked this. A lot.
Hugs, me - Me, too. Thanks!

Dave R - Thank you very much, sir!

Michael R - "Something magical about embracing a new day." So true!

Robin - You are so welcome! xo

Jonathon - Thank you very much.

patricia k - "The power to choose." Where there is power, we are often rendered powerless." Thank you.

Dom M - Yes and you are very welcome.

Jerry D - Wow, Jer - Your comment has the makings of a great post!
Thanks very much.

Cartouche - Thanks much!
Lovely poem, but why wait? The simplest answer is to act. R
I am impressed with the clarity you possess so late into the night! This would have fired all my engines and put me into an all-nighter for sure! Great thoughts in that mix!
Ella - Thanks!

Trudge - Yes, act indeed. The "wait" was relative to knowing "it" in the moment. Go to know it to act on it.

Susan Creamer Joy - Thanks so much and have to say, that I am more often inspired to write late at night, for some reason. Not always so sure that's a good idea but it's when "it" happens.
I live each day like it is my last.
Great post and rated with hugs
From you lips -- or fingertips -- to God's ears!
Great poem, well done. R
Sounds straight from your heart, Cathy. Beautiful.

"I like the white ones"
me too, Cathy, and I love this work. Very thought provoking and even a little worrisome.
Linda - Big hugs right back atcha! Thanks much!

Jali - Thank you so much!

Tom C - Hadn't thought of it that way.

Sheila T - Thanks much.

Fusan A - As much as possible, thanks.

Boomer Bob - Interesting and thought-provoking comment. Hope I didn't worry you? None intended.
Veronica - Thanks for our thoughts. Waiting has subtle shades of meaning and can be sad, as you said. The "wait for it" here is positive and reassuring that "it" is good, indeed, if you are looking in the right direction. Ready for "it." Present to "it." All good.
Trust nothing...embrace everything...and wait for it. I think I'll make that my motto and put it on a coffee mug and a t-shirt, too.

THAT...is just what I needed today! You know why already. (Oh, and speaking of why you know that...I HATE the BF, but...oh well...)

Thank you for this!
it was bob dylan who among others
said "dont look back"...

look out kid they got it all hid...sub. homesick blues..

trust nothing is not a negative statement...
i trust the huge pregnant Nothing at the heart of the universe...

vampires steal yr soul juice mostly through sex...
they are parasites and we are idolizing them
because we all want to prey
Keka! Oh no! That's not easy at all. I am out on a limb to say I do like the bf of my youngest, however, the jury is out on the longevity of this coupling. Right there with you.

Mr. Sunshine - Dare I say, "you get me." Rightly confirmed the meaning of "trust nothing... and your comment et all was quite enjoyable. The vampire craze is pure craziness. It, too, shall pass. To what is the question of concern.
Totally sassy, eating watermelon taffy.
Very brassy, Just Cathy.
This is ironically why I love Mondays. They feel so fresh and clean, no matter what has transpired over the weekend. I loved this.
Beautiful write leading up to the precious present. Love your observations and sentiment! xoxoxoxo
Weighing Opportunities- Awesome, poetic comment!!! Loved it!

Mary - Love you more!

Joan (Jo Jo) - So good to see you here. Miss you! Thanks!
I missed this on the day it was posted. So glad Dave's PP Awards brought back the link. Wonderful, lyrical, delightful images.
