NEITHER WILL I

Rate: 26 Flag

You say you won't buy into it?

"Neither will I."

She said she won't cave under pressure.

"Neither will I."

He said he won't put up with his dead end job any longer.

"Neither will I."

The collective conscious will not follow the political extremes.

"Neither will I."

The masses will not feign interest in the purported economic upswing.

"Neither will I."

The papacy will never tell the truth about its own flock.

The vice president will not take the stand against the prez.

The military will not retreat from its toughest stand.

The media will not back away from Paris and Lindsay.

The schools will not improve without federal bailouts.

Our roads will forever be full of pot holes.

The conscience of a nation will not budge from its principles.

The media will not apologize for its incessant bending of the truth.

The strong of heart will not lay down their arms.

The healthy ones will not risk taking the latest flu shot.

"Neither will I."

Most are saying no to watching more reality TV shows.

The majority are fed up with the status quo.

The government is chasing its tail to please the majority.

The bulk of our citizenry is sick to death over health care and taxes.

Most women will need to work twice as hard to find equality at work.

Most men are working twice as long to keep their jobs.

Many of us are fighting "tooth and nail" to simply get any paycheck.

We struggle with our employers, our physicians; dwindling insurance.

We've pulled the plug on small pleasures and excess.

We're reigning in all spending and drowning in compounding debt.

It's loathsome to complain day after day; to wallow in regret.

Standing in a circle, hands held tight, we vow to forget.

The daily prayers are repeated in reverent sincerity.

A positive mindset is intended but suffers in results.

Our humanity is challenged every step of the way.

We banish the thought we may not live another day.

Gathering in our living room, our yard or on a deck,

Exchanging ideas, our fears, the realities,

our lost beliefs and what the heck?

It's all around us.  Unavoidable.  This the media knows.

As it fights for the rating points, remaining in the lime light as it glows.

Expounding on the latest trend, Iran's nuclear taunt; the abuse of power.

It's all so dirty, disappointing; sticky.  Makes you want to take a shower.

Yet the sky hasn't fallen yet.

The clouds dance in artistic shapes on the horizon.

The sun proudly rises to illuminate another new day.

The flowers still bloom while the trees provide shade from the heat.

The Earth continues to provide and regenerate its riches.

It is our job to make sure everyone has enough to eat.

Replenish our minds, hearts and bodies.  Our thoughts and our energies.

Come together somehow, see our fellow man  as each day we greet.

With renewed effort, hope and determination to be part of the solution.

To be present as one, moving forward in this quirky existence.

Sure beats the alternative, the surrender of our senses, the darkness.

Bear witness to what we have and ignore what we have not.

Look around in unison to see the treasures we've sought.

I look to those who do not cry in their sleep.

Those who find pleasure in the simplest things.

Who do not complain out loud what we all share in common.

Who find comfort in one another for the priceless gifts of life.

The ones who never slander, curse or envy the lot of others.

"Neither will I."

Some thoughts for the day.
Feels like a message of hope and encouragement to me. Like your new pic. You can't possibly be pushing 60 . . .
desert_rat - a lady never tells. Thanks!
Thoughts, deep and perplexing thoughts. Wonderful poem, perfect.
rated with thoughts.
I like what you have to say and that in the end it is about finding the good in each other and each day.
Great new picture too!
More than thoughts. Some it really scares me.
The picture?
OMG we are the same age.. You look like you are 30

Cathy: this is wonderful. There are so many great things about this, but mostly I like how your mind works. r-
OEsheepdog - Thanks for coming by.

and they're great thoughts r.
I love how the frenetic pace of the beginning gives way to a calm, soothing ending. My favorite line: "The clouds dance in artistic shapes on the horizon." Beautiful!
Hope to a world caught up in doubt, self-absorption and negativity..you covered it all..thank God for all our many blessings and thank God for the hope of Heaven.Really enjoyed this.
Cute picture too..did you know my middle name is HOPE? :)
The beginning of this great post is like some
diabolic State of the Union address
made by a President who had truth serum mickey-ed
into his water...

this is a message of doom and hope,,,
Jonathan - Thank you, sir!

Robin - Hugs!

Karen - Thank you. It started out that way and then came full circle.

Mr. Sunshine - I like what you saw in this. Great comment! Thx!
This is powerful and they are great thoughts....except

"Most are saying no to watching more reality TV shows. "

Me, give up "Jersey Shore" and "Housewives"? Bah!

runs out of room
Xenonlit - NO! Not Housewives! Didn't classify that one as "reality TV!" That has "real" actors in it and not just your everyday, ordinary folksie variety of characters. Put that one back!
I love your hopefullness. :)
And NO KIDDING to desert_rat's message about you! Gorgeous!
I loved this Cathy. It is so easy to focus on the negativity, and we don't want to remain blind. But there is still so much to derive joy and pleasure from on a daily basis. It's all around us and I thank you for the encouragement.
It always makes me feel good to find others think about the same things as I do. What makes me feel better is knowing someone who expresses it so beautifully. Thanks.
Weighing Ops - Thanks very much and shucks. The hope piece is essential to get through all the other muck, for sure.

MTK - We can't get enough of the good stuff unless we turn off the TV!
Thanks for your kind comment.

Buffy - You're a sweetie pie. Thanks!
Anyone who reads this cannot forget the beauty and power of the messages. Neither will I.
Veronica - So much of that here, for sure.

Cartouche - Nicely done! Thanks!
Just wanted you to know I read, loved and rated this, Cathy.
In a rush - very nice new picture - xox

Wonderfully said, Cathy
"Sure beats the alternative"
you said it. Might as well be positive!
towards the end, people and nations replace action with philosophy, and philosophy with wine.
Fusan - thanks much and never worrie! I know how busy you are and so appreciate your time in coming by!

Trilogy - Thanks much!

al loomis - Love your comment! Well said and yes. Will be thinking of you next Happy Hour.
This is quite a treatise on our times. I like the hopefulness at the end - hang onto that. Congrats on your PP Award. Rated.
