LESS IS STILL LESS

Rate: 22 Flag

Simple math would dictate it.

Blonde math would masticate it.

Loss of income would dictate it.

Higher taxes illustrate it.

No eye or dental underscores it.

Gynormous deductibles highlight it.

Sleeping late ignores it.

Unemployment lines can't fake it.

Bread lines predate it.

History repeats it.

Can we hack it?

It's inevitable.

Less is not more.

Less is still less.

I like to think it is just that.

A tit for a tat.

The karma that befits it.

The tables that turn.

The dizzy spell that has broken.

The new dawn that shows it.

The next gen that blows it.

Time and time again.

Let's begin to get it.

Before we grow blind to it.

Before we passively ignore it.

Before we are overtaken by it.

Before it's virulent tendons strangle it.

Before we completely miss it.

Before it's too late.

Above image:  I Googled it.

Tick tock.  Tick tock.

The clock ate it.

Time escalated it.

Let's not wait for it.

I updated it.

I often think that less is more and so it is. However, there are so many that do not have more and less is still less than most endure.
Timely poem and so true. Less is less and it must hurt those who do not have. I worry about them- how hard life must be on top of providing for self.
less is sometimes better, I've found a simpler life is much easier. This was a wonderful poem!

Less is more is a palliative offered by those who are satiated to those who are still hungry. I'm still hungry. I want more.
Mango Sherbert - With our country fiscally imploding before our eyes and in our wallets, we will see a lot more less before this is cured. Thank you.

Poppi Iceland - Thank you. I couldn't agree more.

Fishgold - So true you are and I see a long period of time ahead where our children and grandchildren are going to pay the price of the "have mores" of our generation and the decades of politics as usual. Change is indeed happening; just not the hope and change we were expecting to effect our lives now.
"It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends upon his not understanding it!"
--upton sinclair

"One withstands the invasion of armies; one does not withstand the invasion of ideas."
--victor hugo

occupy party reaches critical mass/seismic effect--now what?
vzn - Great quotes, thanks. The question you pose is for us all to ponder, conceive, create and act, "without malice or forethought."
"Please sir, I want some more!"
"MOOOOOOOOOOOOR"
Sorry, I thought I'd put a little "twist" on your post.

The only time less may be more is when we are trying to explain ourselves to others. Less is less and that is not a good thing. Great thoughts and thank you for sharing them.
I like simplicity but there is a point where poverty is deadening.
Out on a limb - And why not?! Always ok to want for more as long as we keep our heads on straight! Thanks for the lively spin!

Mary - Yes, that's right! You're welcome and thank you! xo

zanelle - Good point as there are surely the two extremes and so much in between! Thanks!
We are such a greedy society of more that a post such as this does good to remind us that many are not in the race and we do tend to leave them behind.
Rated.
I once had everything and now have nothing. Less is best as I am happy with what I have now.

HUGGGGGGG
incredibly wise you are r.
Less is still less...Sometimes, sometimes not. But when we are talking destitution and unemployment, I understand your point very well.
This could be the occupy America national anthem! It has music in it. R
A touch of Sanity in the land of Double Speak,
Thankyou for posting this. BB.
Scylla - Thanks very much, Scy...so true, you.

Linda - xoxo to you and for all that you have and more for all that you are!

hugs, me - No! Hugs, YOU! Thx!

Jon - Not really, my good man, but I thank you so very much!

Patrick Frank - Yes, we are and I thank you much!

zumalicious - Oh my! Hadn't thought of that! Music and poetry do go hand in hand, so yes...let'd go with that!

Blackbird_61 - Hey, thanks very much, BB!
Less is fine, if it's what you CHOOSE.

When Less is less than fulfills your needs and you can remember when you had enough.... not so much!

great poem, Cathy. Rated.
Shiral - Precisely. Less is still less if it creates a let down, as you say...but when did most of ever "choose" less? That may be the ultimate question. It's a major bummer when someone else chooses that reality for us...when it is beyond our control...beyond our choice. The "lessness" is exactly what we choose to avoid but cannot always be within our grasp. Thank you for stirring the pot.
Very timely! I think about the growing gap between the Haves and the Have Nots a lot these days. I have way too much stuff and somehow we become slaves to our possessions. The most memorable times in my life are the experiences I have with family and friends, not the possessions.
Ralph - So very true! and in many cases we can't even give stuff away because mist folks have too much of their own stuff! George Carlin does a great stand up comic bit on all our stuff and the excess therein! Including the need for more stuff to put our stuff into and more places to put the stuff and so on... And so it goes. Stuff begets more stuff...
Less is more only if
you have way more
Otherwise
you're right.
Less is less.
nerd cred - So true. And in my own lifetime, I feel like I have seen both sides of the spectrum, not in excess either way but enough to know that there is beauty in the unencumbered life where generosity is one solution to having more than one needs. Thank you!
Still love the simple math and others...
Just more wrinkles... sags and sores
Gray and poor
hit the floor.
Love that photo!

Nice strings of words in this poem, Cathy, so true.
'More' too often is just missing the point.
