Bio
From my days on an Ohio farm, temptation has been my greatest strength & my greatest weakness. I constantly ask myself, “Should I or shouldn’t I.” I struggle with good & bad, long & short and truth or fiction. My life is filled with all things sweet & nice, with a touch of spice and a whole lot of wackiness. For many years now, I have lived in two worlds; one red and one blue. The red world has been dominated by FoxNews and I was told to believe & never question. The blue world is a long affiliation with Democrats; where I was always told to trust & follow. Living in these two worlds has gotten me into great conflict with temptation… So watch out, depending on the day; I will exercise my wit & knowledge and voice my feelings with true convictions.

Peach Custard Pie and Peachy odds and ends

Rate: 10 Flag

         peach tree

Here are a few peach facts:

·        Our biggest peach producing states are California, Georgia, New Jersey (ranks 4th in the nation), South Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Washington.  Whose are the best?

·        Peaches originated in China and have been cultivated since 1000 BC.  They consider the peach tree, the tree of life with peaches being the symbol of unity, good luck and immortality.

 ·        The English took peaches to their Jamestown and Massachusetts colonies. Columbus brought peach trees to America on his second and third voyages.  Spaniards brought them to South America and the French introduced them to Louisiana.

 ·        “You're a real peach” originated from the tradition of giving a peach to a favorite friend.

A “peach” of a quote:

“A Georgia peach, a real Georgia peach, a backyard great-grandmother’s orchard peach, is as thickly furred as a sweater, and so fluent and sweet that once you bite through the flannel, it brings tears to your eyes.”

Melissa Fay Greene
