If I ever had to cast a movie of my own life, here's how it would go:

James Garner as my dad. A young James Garner.
A young Deborah Kerr as my mother when she was younger.
My sister would say Doris Roberts for my mother as she is older.
But I would probably say Ellyn Burstyn
Not just any Ellyn Burstyn, the one on Big Love.
A cleanshaven Dan Abrams to play my brother
with really natty clothes.
Melissa Sue Anderson would be a ringer for sister #1 when she was younger.
Jennifer Grey to play sister #2.
No, not that Jennifer Grey.

And not this one, either.
This one. Shauna. The one who was Ferris' sister and got smart with Charlie Sheen.
Sister #3 is easy, Melissa Gilbert.
Half-Pint was a ringer. Convenient two of my sisters come from Little House.
Baby sister, sister #4, is also easy.

Marlee Matlin in Children of a Lesser God.
My paternal grandfather is a combination of
and
Willie Nelson and Justin Wilson. Hoo-eeeee. Pass the Tabasco.
Grandma would be a young Bea Arthur.

For my maternal grandfather? Carroll O'Connor.
The one from Return to Me, not All in the Family.
My maternal grandmother?
Jean Stapleton, but not the one from All in the Family. Add glasses.
Meryl Streep is a ringer for my Aunt Esther.
There's a lot of family resemblance there.
Assorted relatives. A sister-in-law.

Susan Sarandon.
A daughter-in-law
Diane Keaton. Without the glasses.
A couple of people from my past
Ralph Fiennes.
Daryl Hall and John Oates.
Yes. Both of them. Not at the same time.
Uh-huh.

That Roger Moore.
I have lots of gorgeous grandchildren. One of them is a ringer for
Josh Hartnett. Gotta shave his head now, though, since he's in the Army.
Another is a ringer for

Reese Witherspoon. Legally Blonde vintage. Smart and social.
My other granddaughter

Lisa Kudrow. But not the one on Friends.
This was one of my grandsons when he was younger.
Thomas Sangster, the endearing little boy in Love Actually.
In recent years he looked a little more like
a young Bjorn Borg, especially when he had long hair.
Nick Simmons has his brother down pat.
I have another grandson who easily could have been, when younger,
I'd have to think about the rest of them. The above are easy.
My husband would have to be
the great Patrick Stewart.
and to play my adorable dog, Sweetie
champion Billy the Havanese.
And, finally . . . .me.

the Toothpaste for Dinner guy.
But hey, probably since most of these people aren't available, we'd just have to go with the originals.
That's my life, cast as a movie, in a nutshell. How would you cast yours?

Jimmy Stewart would play my daddy.
Maureen O'Hara would play my mother.
I'm still holding casting calls for my wife. I need to get this one right, you know.
rated:)
Casting:
my mother: a very young Julie Andrews, as a brunette
my grandmother: Lidia from Lidia's Italy
my eldest sister: Mia Farrow
my middle sister: Jennifer Grey, pre-nose alteration
me: a younger Katie Holmes, from her Dawson's Creek days
Katie bears a striking resemblance to me. :)
Hope
All around, nice family.
Rated.
My love interest: John Cusack, from his High Fidelity role or just about any other role. He's adorable!!!!!!!!!!!

Thoth, it's a young James Garner for my dad, because he died over thirty years ago in his forties of cancer. Didn't live long enough to be the old James Garner. Patrick Stewart is a pretty good choice for my husband; I wouldn't reverse them. Although, if the real James Garner were available, or heck, the real Patrick Stewart. . .
Hope, I'm with you on John Cusack, who could also probably play me.
Thanks to those of you who responded to this by private message, too. I appreciate that not everyone wanted their lists to be public, but still enjoyed the thread.
More later. Keep those cast lists coming.
Rated!
Caroline, Cliff and PeeWee would be fascinating.
john, gotcha. Larry David makes some sense. The Shrew?
Cathy, big family indeed. My dad was one of ten. I'm oldest of six. I hear ya. Good call. Hard to do.
Harvey, amen on that last bit. Gotta get that right.
OEsheepdog, Holland Taylor could be a cool mom. Character actors rule.
scanner, this is just who I'd have play my family. . .because they're actors, and have range. Addams Family also works.
Nikki, as I always suspected. Anxious to hear.
LuluandPhoebe, my paternal grandmother is difficult, also died young, early 50's, but young Bea Arthur could work. Would love to know yours.
Cap'n, can be made for TV. Some of those are Utah peeps.
Stellaa, don't count on it. Megan Fox is permanently entrenched.
Deb, if your dad was the funny Bill Cosby, lucky you.
surly, good plan. Maybe you can get some for 19.95.
CarolinaBlue50, Justin Wilson is much missed. My grandfather is the first person I knew who kept a gallon jug of Tabasco on his kitchen table, and Justin Wilson always channeled him. Mix him and Willie, and you have my late, and also much missed, Grandpa.
Hope, I worry about how much you're really starving, but like your choices. Interesting we both have sisters who are Jennifer Grey. Katie Holmes. . .okay!
Thoth, see my comments to you in another post above.
Andy, Sam Neill could be cool all around.
Tiger, I could go for Lucille Ball and Gary Cooper as parents. Cool about your dad and Legends. Hope your dog has a happier ending than Marley.

Reiko, neither a pillbox nor a beret. Truthfully I'm not much of a hat wearer, except on that odd occasion when it seems like a good idea, which really should be more often.
Lea, fun family, lucky you! Thanks.
