Lancet Retracts 1998 Article Linking MMR Vaccine, Autism
The British Medical Journal The Lancet has retracted a controversial 1998 article which linked the MMR (measles/mumps/rubella) vaccine to autism.
The Lancet issued a full retraction in the recent issue, admitting they now accept that claims made by researchers in the article were 'false.' They had previously issued a partial retraction.
The lead researcher of the article, Dr. Andrew Wakefield, was found last week to have broken research rules by the General Medical Council.
