As for the rest, I predict a romping by Precious. I can't imagine any other film, performance or writing even coming close . I was surprised no nomination for Mariah. I think it's a setup in a way because Monique should have been nominated for Best Actress as well as Gabourey Sidibe. She'd have won, so I'm guessing they put one each into the two catagories. Why can't they give as many "bests" as are warranted? I've never understood the logic of that, sometimes there's more than one. And the catagories need updating. SORELY. you can't put a comedic performance against a dramatic one, the gravitas takes the cake every time.
You know, if your picks pan out, you can expect a PM from me for some PowerBall Numbers.
I loved kill bill and can't understand how the same man made the same movie.
I'm betting on HollywollMeryl Streep and George for Best Actress/Actor, although I'd love to see Sandra Bullock and Jeff Bridges repeat their Golden Globe victories. Not getting my hopes up after Mickey Rourke was robbed by Sean Penn after Rourke won the Golden Globe. Swore I'd never watch another Academy Awards show after that.
Also, Avatar will probably get all the tech awards and Best Director and Picture after racking in all that money.
A Serious Man came out on DVD today. Inglorius Basterds, Hurt Locker, Julie and Julia (Streep), and UP are already out on DVD.
My two cents: Inglorius Basterds is brilliant. Also, I cannot understand how Viggo Mortensen was overlooked for The Road.
I would love Meryl Streep to win. Yeah, she's been nominated so many times but she rarely wins. I think "Julie and Julia" was almost mediocre. But her performace was so rich, as usual. I don't understand why everyone calls her our greatest actress but she loses most of the time. What do you think her odds are? Pretty slim? I thought so.
Time for her, at aged 60, to get the glory prize.
