For those who are eager to witness the end of either Charlie Crist, the Republican, or possibly Charlie Crist, the candidate for US Senator from the great state of Florida, they won't have to wait much longer.
FOX News is reporting it has learned the governor has decided to run as an independent and will announce the same at Thursday's rally.
The Crist for Senate campaign announced earlier that the Florida governor will be making an announcement at 5 p.m. Thursday at an outdoor rally in St. Petersburg, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Candidates have until April 30th to file for the Florida Senate race. Rumors of Crist's possible switch to an independent affiliation have swirled for some time.
He is currently trailing Republican Mark Rubio in the polls, and prominent Republicans like Mitt Romney and Dick Cheney have thrown their support behind Rubio. Despite that, Mike Madden has reported for Salon that some Republican senators have indicated the Republican caucus would support Crist if he wins the seat.
Crist announced recently he would "put his ears to the ground" and listen to the people of Florida before making a decision.
St. Petersburg was chosen for the announcement because it is the governor's home town.

Anyhoo, I don't like this guy. His "I'm still sexy despite my grey hair" thing is way too much for me.
Rated for a good article though!
As a lifelong Floridian independent voter I've always voted as if I were a yellow-dog Dem., I welcome the moderate, civil, approach to government that he will bring as his baggage! Sunny days are here again, ain't it Grand?
And it's ain't pretty.
The way he operates I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's now in the process of contracting a hit on one of his ex-boytoys.
I would love to be in St. Pete for the announcement tomorrow, but my schedule doesn't permit.
"Support him if he wins the seat"? In other words, if he gets himself elected, they'll demand that he vote with the Reps even though they're doing nothing to get him elected and in fact everything to defeat him???
