Filling in the Holiday Blanks, and a Personal Note of Thanks
There have been far too many people who've been exceptionally kind to me here during my husband's recent hospitalization and death, many who've reached out to me with kind words, offered phone numbers, big shoulders, support and comfort. Many of you also sent flowers.
I am really deeply touched.
And overwhelmed.
Right now, it's still too hard for me to write. I hope you will understand.
My sincere thanks to all of you. And best wishes in the holidays and upcoming New Year.

My first Christmas memory is: waking up at my grandparents' motel to a silver tree with a colored light wheel.
I think Santa Claus should: go on the inspirational speaking circuit.
If I could play with one toy from my childhood it would be: I would say my Chatty Cathy doll, but seriously it actually scared me a little. The most beautiful doll I ever received I never played with, but put away.
When I sat on Santa's lap I was really thinking: you look suspiciously like my grandfather.
I am (naughty or nice or both or whatever you like): Is that a question?
If I could have on experience for the holidays versus getting a gift it would be: having my husband back. Which is a gift.
What confuses me about the holidays is: how they come earlier every year and leave sooner.
Spending time with relatives is: alternately comforting and challenging, and sometimes melancholy, baby.
The best present I got for Christmas is: generosity of spirit.
If I could add one idea to the folklore of Christmas it would be: ice fairies.
My favorite part of the Christmas meal is: the main course, whether it's lamb, ham or salmon.
The "Peace on Earth" part of Christmas is: a no brainer.
I am reading Till I End My Song: A Gathering of Last Poems (compiled by Harold Bloom) this holiday season.
My wish for everyone this Christmas is: a once in a lifetime love.
I will always still play Santa Claus at my house. And everywhere else I can.
If I could see one movie this Christmas Day it would be True Grit. But I didn't. Still haven't. But will.
If I won the Mega Millions today, I would: breathe a lot easier in the New Year. So would a lot of other people.
This year, Christmas is: a time of great sadness amid the magic, joy and celebration. I am bereft.

I loved this one: I am (naughty or nice or both or whatever you like): Is that a question?
Can they crystallize tears, turning them into snowflakes? Tears for a true love become silver and gold....
Nice to see your face again-- may comfort find you each day.
May the New Year bring you peace and comfort.

So say the lyrics to the holiday song. I send them both your way.
And Happy Holidays to you!
