I Have Some Birds (and Palm trees and Flowers)

Rate: 1 Flag

To my friends:   A really quick post to let you know I am still here!  I am still reading, rating, and commenting, and need something new in this spot.  You all know I am not here as a writer - so here is my placeholder.

I have been following everyone's weather woes assiduously, and  I empathize!  Bird pictures seem to be appreciated, so are some from my front yard this past week - which I watch through my open window while I work (or suf OS instead).

The ibis come by around lunchtime.  They meander purposely from one lawn to the next hunt-pecking bugs out of the lawns.

Birds and Flowers

These guys and gals are pissed because I am standing in my driveway and they have to walk in the road to go around my yard.

Look closely at the third from the left in the next photo.  Is /he/she flipping me a bird?  Or have I found my new avatar?

I haven't looked this up yet but I think it's a small pelican-type bird on the car next door.

5 PM  is happy hour for a huge flock of some anonymous black-bird type flock ( in Tx they were grackles, not sure what these are).  They are loud and raucous and move swiftly - someday I will catch them  in a photo on the ground.  They line 10-12 house around as seen below and swoop in and out of the front yards while making a never-ending ruckus. I can feel the WHIRRRRR I hear when they alight aand depart as a group.

There are more, but I just started my new hobby this week.
This morning, one of the neighborhood ducks followed me like a puppy dog  up the driveway to the front door. Unfortunately, I was attacked by a duck as a very young child at the torture haven they called "the duck pond" and I am still leery of ducks.
I hope this was fun!

Cool pics. I really, really, really need to be in a warm climate right now. I can't imagine what it would be like to feel the sun on exposed flesh other than my face!
Thank you Emma. I wish you could all come and warm up for a few days, we'd have a blast (and prices are through the floor!)
Your pelican is a Great Egret. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Great_Egret.html
Cool having Ibis in your front yard--wish I could get some to come clear out the scorpions (still in Texas).
