Punchnel's, Week of 8/22/11

Rate: 4 Flag

Hey, all. We're alive and rocking at Punchnel's. I'm going to post updates on OS once a week as Punchnel's, so please make Punchnels' a favorite (http://open.salon.com/blog/punchnels) if you want to see what we're doing. Here's what's happening this week:

Hello, OSers. Just stopping by to tell you what's going on over at our new webzine,  Punchnel'sWe're posting stuff every day, and we're paying (a little) for content. So come see what we're doing.

And, to whet your appetite, here's what's going on this week:

Earlier this week, we posted a love letter to Gilmore girlsvideo about a dead communistflash fiction that starts in a movie theater restroom--oh, and OS's own Ashley Walker. Yes, you've read her here. We're retelling her crazy tale from the beginning at Punchnel's.

Also: check out our reviews, which we're featuring as Punchouts: two opinions for the price of one. Vote for the review you like best. It's stupid and fun.

Wednesday (8/24), we're posting the second installment of Alex Mattingly's serial novel Everything And MoreIt's quirky and flashy and good, and you can read the first part here, too. We also have new poetry from Mimi Brooksthat we think you'll love.

We've got more to come, too--including our Friday favorite, This Week In BullshitCome take a look. Submit something if you think we'll love it. See you soon.

Can't wait to take a look! ~r
love the feel of your site--i'll be submitting some of whatever it is i do soon...good luck with it!
Worth checking out just for Ashley ("Writer to the Stars") Walker's truthful tales following her husband's stroke. There are many terrific writers on Open Salon, but none better than Ashley. Thanks for giving those tales another home at Punchnel's, and wider viewing. All the best on your new venture.
Ken, I've said it a bunch of times and I'll say it again: I'm really honored to be included. And thank you, Kathy, for your really nice comment. What I like about Punchnel's is its wide open look. A lot of online 'zines (and lit'ry quarterlies) have kind of a pinched writer's workshoppy feel. There's an open jolly quality you've achieved all the way through this issue. Betcha the many good, smart, talented writers at OS will feel very welcome. Hope so. Hope they flood the place with their stuff.
Thanks for the reminder. Got to get over there and read.
Ok will be seeing you there...
