You Need One Being To Love You Unconditionally.

Rate: 16 Flag

You must have unconditional love from at least one being.

Someone who loves you for who you are, not to change you into something else. Not someone who is blind to your faults, but someone who truly loves the real you, who truly likes you.

Someone who would never abandon you only because you got sick, or you lost your money, or you lost your looks,  or because the honeymoon is over, or because a better deal comes along, or because your usefulness to them is over. Someone who truly cares what happens to you, will nurture you and do all they can to help you in life.

If you also feel unconditional love and commitment to that person, than something miraculous will happen. True and ever-increasing love will be exchanged back and forth getting stronger and more powerful all the time into eternity. And "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

No matter how flawed you are, remember that the world is full of flawed people. All are flawed. If you haven't found unconditional love yet, it is just bad luck, and a matter of time, if you keep trying.

If you die before you find it, I add my testimony to the millions and generations in different cultures who say that there is a higher power that does love you unconditionally. The love of the higher power is the only love that is truly completely perfect and truly completely eternal. It is far more than any trivial human love. So love yourself, because as a creation of a higher power, you deserve it. And remember that the higher power loves you unconditionally. In time you will know this for certain.

For me, it doesn't have to be a lover, my family loves me unconditionally. My sisters know my flaws, and love me anyway. I feel lucky to have them. Brothers too with a little less assurance as it's harder to relate at times.
We can be our own one can't we?
I'm with Don Rich.

The title says it all. / r
This is truly comforting, Kathy.
I have my one. I have others who love me, and kids who hate me right now, but Terri will be there until the end. Of this, there is no doubt.
All the great artists and philosophers have realized this truth as expressed by John Lennon:

All you need is Love.

Great little piece.

Pets love unconditionally, too. Works for me.
Comforting and (outside of one's family and oneself), truly miraculous to perhaps find. But I have heard it happens.
dirty harry, thank you so much for your kind first comment!

Rita, I feel the same way. My Mom had 5 sisters and they were all best friends, they were there for each other.
we can be our own bob, I agree!

thanks for stopping by Rich!
thank you Torrito
thanks for commenting Jeannette.
What a timely and profound message--and one that we all need to hear! Kathy, you are truly a life force.
This is so true and I am glad you pointed this out here and now...Have a great new year and hugs to you for this.
I think that's one reason people have dogs! It doesn't matter how bad you screw up, a dog is always overjoyed to see you. (Dog is God spelled backward after all).
Beautiful post. I always say this about children: You need one person who is fully there for you, with unconditional love. I hope I was there for my kid; i know my father gave it to me. As an adult, it's more about sometimes for me, but the concept is absolutely essential for life. R
I've been lucky enough to have several such people in my life, starting early. My grandmother looked at me with eyes that could see no wrong. I may have taken it for granted when Iwas a kid, but I sure recognize and treasure it today. And I try to emulate her when I look at my own family.
how much we need that, so much.
Hi Kathy, Hope you will check out my blog, The Talking Pew, it addresses these same questions. I talk a lot about the Bible, but also about people I meet as a religion writer... I guess the difference between what we think of as God and humans is that God can do that unconditional loving better than we can.
yes, Kathy. Maybe He does, I feel it sometimes, and sometimes I despair and right now am submitted to His will and decided to be quiet - I took the MBTI test tonight and guess what instead of the normal INTJ I usu get, this time I got INFP, maybe am changing may nt be for the better but maybe to be better able to accept and submit to the larger force out there? I thanked you on the new post.
So true. The easiest way to experience unconditional love if one isn't so fortunate is to adopt a pet. There are so many pets in need. Cats and dogs are a gift that offer an irreplaceable experience of unconditional love. The loves of my life are my tom cat and my Golden Retriever. :) Numerous studies show how they lift depression, extend life, boost confidence and even help the mind reprogram itself amongst many other "miraculous" outcomes.

I know of no love that is unconditional. Not one.
