Razing Arizona: Guest Behavior

Rate: 1 Flag

There are two attitudes guests, interlopers or illegal immigrants might have, and attitude determines behavior.

One attitude is that the guest is entitled, has a right to belong and be in.

The other attitude is gratitude.

The entitled attitude would produce behaviors of resentment, demand, and protest. That's what we're seeing.

Gratitude would produce behaviors of contribution, low demand, low visibility, extreme helpfulness, extreme cooperation. We're told that the majority of illegal immigrants are hard working folks. Fine. A host could expect that from the guest at a minimum. We're told by Arizona spokesmen, and others opposed to illegal immigration, that there's too much drug smuggling, crime, and gangsterism. And way too much lousy driving.

Now if a guest felt grateful to be here, and wanted to show it, he'd realize his greatest enemy is his ill-behaved compatriot. Who knows best where the Mexican drug smugglers are? Wouldn't a "grateful guest" turn them in? Who knows best which illegals drive without licenses or drive drunk? Then why don't they turn them in?

If Mexicans want respect and gratitude for how hard-working they are, for the contribution they make to our agriculture, then they should show their gratitude by policing their fellows. When they become citizens, then they will be entitled to misbehave and ignore misbehavior in others. Until then, their misbehaving compatriots threaten their ability to be here.
