It's said that this election will be won simply on turnout. Midterm elections generally get more voters to the polls from the party not in power, since they are the ones more likely to want change; the party in power is usually too complacent to vote. This effect magnifies the minority party's power and risks an upset.
The following video is a reminder of what will happen if Democratic turnout is low, or if Democrats register “protest votes.” These are not made-up worries. The Republican leadership has been promising to roll back the progress made this term by the Democrats. That's their agenda. To move us back. This is a reminder of what things were like at the time those Republican leaders remember so fondly and want to return to:
And while we're talking about things to remember, if you don't recall all that was done by the Democrats so far this term, here's a reminder about that, too:
Don't sit this one this out thinking it doesn't matter.
The stakes are too high.
I am a political independent.
I will vote Democratic today.

I still cannot see yet..:)
This morning, I have called two people and offered rides as well as information on where the polling places are. I believe my taxi driver day will be fruitful for democracy.
Coyote, that's the spirit!
And if you are willing to vote "in protest" at least know what you are protesting. Voting Republicorp today is a vote for a continuation of the mess we are in - and have been heading for since Reagan.
One last note on protest votes. After this election, the Citizens United v FEC case will be enshrined permanently. If you think your vote matters little today, you will be so overwhelmed by "corporate free speech" in future elections you may as well return to the couch.
SO VOTE TODAY DAMMIT! AND MAKE YOUR VOTE COUNT BY VOTING INTELLIGENTLY!!!
democracy can only work if the electorate is informed, I'm afraid we're in for some very rough times
