I'm back, if you happened to notice that I was away

Rate: 33 Flag

In the past week or so, Open has largely fallen into the capable hands of Thomas, who no doubt did a marvelous job. I'm back online full-time tomorrow, but see a small army of messages standing at attention in my inbox -- I'll get back to the urgent ones as soon as I can tomorrow morning, and the others shortly thereafter. Thanks for your patience.

Where was I? A shot/hint below from yesterday -- and my ears are still ringing.

Welcome back. You better catch up on your sleep and your meds.
Welcome back. You were missed.
Vacations sometimes vacate the mind-- so does work. Welcome back.
Of course I noticed! Just yesterday Freaky was asking me, "Where's Zerry?"

What is on fire in that picture?

Hmmm. Your ears are still ringing. One more clue maybe? Sports-related? Political?
You blew up that Starbuck's window?!
that't not actually a fire, but a blazing TV screen. the colors in the right foreground should be a clue. . .
Hmmm... something blue and red.. it's a sports thing! Now, what sports thing is it? (MAWB is sports illiterate!)
Hey! I'm glad you had a good getaway. No more pictures? More pictures are needed! :)

Welcome back!
What foreground colors? Are you talking about the blue and red shirts? Does that signify, let me see, that you were in Laos, Cambodia or Liechtenstein?

Someone help me out here.

Were you in Rome (or somewhere else watching) for the Barcelona/Manchester final?
Does Barcelona have anything to do with where you have been? Could be Las Ramblas . . . not sure . . .
Hey, we should do this more. It's like OS Charades or OS 20 questions.

Is it a major sporting event of which I know nothing about?
Owl wins! I was on Las Ramblas watching Barcelona (which played Manchester, in Rome) on TV win the European final! This was pre-pandemonium; the city exploded with joy. It was great. And I don't really follow the footie.

I'd post more pics, but took few this trip. Mostly vegged, ate too much jamon, drank too much rioja, and have no regrets about it.
David's right! It is the Barcelona football uniform so you must have been in Rome.

d
Sounds delicioso! Welcome back.
Ay que bueno - y que bonita la ciudad!
There is no such thing as too much jambon. Or rioja.

Welcome back!
Rome is such a nice place. Hope you had a good time.
And the planets are aligned...
were you tending bar in that restaurant on the left?
We are all glad you have returned Kerry. And it sounds like you had a wonderful trip.........yes Thomas minded the store! If you didn't have your computer, you gotta lotta readin' to do!!

Best wishes!
G
Nope. didn't notice! But then again, I was away and didn't notice much other than the color of the ocean and the pineapple on the rim of my glass!
Welcome back, Kerry!
Barca! Barca! Barca!
I recognized this right away. Just got back from Barcelona. We stayed on Las Ramblas for both home and away Chelsea games. Those people know how to celebrate a win and/or tie.
mmmm Rioja. I miss the olives.
I missed you, sir. But now I see you were in Rome, and watching futbol no less, and I think "lucky bastard!"
Of course your absence was a void. But nature fills the void and Thomas was awesome. Glad you're back safely, satisfied and satiated. OS seems complete.
Kerry, nice to see you back and glad to hear you had a great time!

I have to say we have some fast working detectives here who figured out where you were in very short order. This post made me think of your vacation post from last June "Guess where I was. . . " which also had a lot of humorous comments attached to it for anyone who wants to go back to read them.
Ah, Barcelona. Guide and tapas and I got mugged!
You went to Hell? I only meant that figuratively!!! :)

Glad you're back....even though, didn't notice you were gone!

*hugs* *pats on the back*
I knew it wasn't the Frying Pan...because there was no water...and the girls all were wearing clothes!
Okay, I must admit, that's a pretty good excuse for leaving, but we're glad your back.
I thought it was a Euro place just by the way that the men are dressed in your photo. And that fellow with the strap across his back? That's sooo Euro.

Barcelona is grand, and so are the tapas! Surely the Spanish and Italians have a great love for ham, and deservedly so. You know how tapas began, do you not? While sipping sherry flies would often buzz about and a piece of bread would be offered to cover the mouth of the sherry glass. One thing led to another and things started appearing upon the small rounds of bread (most often slices of the fabulous hams that also hung in the taverns) and thus a wonderful bar tradition was born.

Welcome Home Kerry!
Now that you're finished slacking, maybe you could slide on over to my blog and rectify the most glaringly omitted EPs? Thanks in advance.
I was for Arsenal and quasi-good sportsmanship had passed my rooting on to Man U. I was not pleased by this outcome, yet I'm unaccountably pleased to know you spent a wonderful vacation.
yes! missed you. and jamon is good.
Welcome back! Was there food? What kind of food? Was it good food? Dessert? Aperitif?
I didn't notice. Sorry. Life went on.
Phew. Thomas really sucked. (Who is thomas again?) We missed you sooo much! You can never go on vacation again.
:tapping foot:: Not enough pictures. ;)
Welcome back! I thought you were just ignoring all of us.... ;)
VERY cool vaca! Welcome back! I KNEW somebody was missing!
I'm down with the jamon y Rioja but prefer Atletico de and Madrid in general. Welcome back.
I did notice things were going a little more smoothly than usual - I should have realized.

but tell me the truth Lauer man, am I totally PANG on your comments section n0w?
I am ridiculously jealous; I hope you put up some more pictures from Las Ramblas and the final aftermath...
The inmates took over while you were away.
I guess I better jump on the kiss ass train if I ever hope to get anywhere in this blogoworld. Welcome home. ;)
Kerry- how are we ever going to have relationship if you run of to Europe in a snit just because I tell you that your left eye is not as photogenic as your right one? You have to trust me baby I'd love you just as much if you only had one eye. Talk it out don't walk it out. Now get over here and let's talk make up sex you dirty little cyclops.
Rioja - I have a headache for you. Glad you're back.
Welcome back, sir! And what a great reason to be absent!
Barcelona. My second favorite city.
Barcelona and New York? Now I'm REALLY jealous! Welcome back... :)
Reconnecting with where it all started?
Welcome home!
I'm just going to echo JK's comment.

Barcelona is tops on my travel wish list - hope you tell some stories!
You speak volumes.
Bienvenue in all its meanings.
i love the tone of your headline.
Where ya going?

O- didnt realize. Hope you enjoy getting back and settle down soon.
So now we discuss edit option for comments on OS?!! ;)

Why are you always on my wall? I didn't invite you.
Thomas did indeed hold down the fort very well. Bet he missed you as much, if not more, than we did. :) Is it his turn for a vaca now?
