Celebrating 25 Years of Stephen King's It

Rate: 1 Flag
In honor of the 25th anniversary of the publication of Stephen King's horror novel It, a special limited edition volume of the book is being released.  According to Fangoria, the commemorative re-release will include a new afterword by the author, two-color interior printing, a bunch of color and black-and-white illustrative artwork, and more.

I still recall it as one of my favorite fiction novels.  The television mini-series based on it was also a classic, starring Richard Thomas, Harry Anderson, John Ritter, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid, and the excellent Tim Curry as the scary Pennywise the Clown.

King managed to use the horror genre that he mastered so well to tell a metaphoric coming-of-age tale.  As a Stephen King fan, I consider It to be one of the true masterpieces of his exemplary career.

The new edition of It is being published by Cemetary Dance, the world's leading specialty press publisher of horror and dark suspense.  In other news, Warner Bros. has been developing a new movie adaptation of the novel.  Stephen King's It may be a quarter-century old, but it still has a lot of entertainment muscle left in it.

Nick, "It" is one of my King favorites, too. I've always thought King had a particularly sensitive insight into child pyschology, and "It" showcases that. Do I recall correctly: "It" was supposed to be his farewell to the horror genre? If so, I'm glad his withdrew that farewell.
Stephen King has threatened to retire a few times. I too am glad he keeps changing his mind.
