New Poll: Favorite Award Shows

Rate: 2 Flag
Time for another poll on my blog City of Kik. Which award show is your favorite? There are so many from which to choose -- the Academy Awards (commonly called the Oscars), the Grammys, the Tonys, the Emmys, the People's Choice Awards, the Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Maybe you like some of the more irreverant trophy-giver-outers, like the MTV Movie Awards (or maybe the MTV Video Awards) or the Razzies. Vote and let me know which one is your choice.

Results from my last poll: I asked, "What do you think is the main cause of decreased movie theater attendance?"  You overwhelming selected "Bad Movies" as the primary reason.  The runner-up was "Expensive Tickets." Tied for third place was "3D Backlash" and "Competition from Other Media Content."  Next up was "Home Theaters Are a Better Experience." Tied for the next excuse slot were "Poor Marketing by Theater Chains" and "Other." In last place, but still to blame by some was "Poor Marketing by Hollywood Studios."

Thanks to everyone for voting.

Since I watch almost zero TV but go each year to the local art theater's Oscar party, that is by default my favorite. It is the biggest of deals, yes? no? R
Yes, it's the granddaddy of all awards shows. But not everyone's favorite. :) I should also have included the option "None of the above" since some people despise all awards ceremonies.
I'm getting more partial to the Golden Globes and People's Choice shows. I haven't been to a movie in a theater in about 3 years so I'm increasingly out of it when it comes to movies. Bottom line though is "none of the above", I really don't watch any of them.
Even though I do not keep up with Broadway, the Tony Awards are by far the most entertaining.

Before Ripley, bravely went after Aliens, I had not seen a movie for 10 years. Same way today.

Yet, all of the award shows are geared toward movies and the "Movie Stars". Why do you think that is, Nick, Media, hype? Is it Hollywood patting themselves on the back or trying to keep movies alive? Elizabeth Taylor made a paltry sum of 1 million for Cleopatra, chump change today, Nick.
It's definitely about self-adoration for the famous -- and the business folks love the publicity that leads to more bucks.
