Music on television is a big trend, from musical series such as Glee and the new Smash, to musical competitions (American Idol, The Voice, The X Factor). Even shows that have no musical connection whatsoever still sometimes offer an episode or two with musical numbers. Sometimes, it's so quirky and brilliant that it works. Other times, it's so out of left field, it leaves viewers scratching their heads in confusion.
Here are some that come to mind (linked to samples from YouTube).
7th Heaven
Batman: The Brave and the Bold
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Chicago Hope
Community
Daria
Fringe
Grey's Anatomy
Sanctuary
Scrubs
The Simpsons
That 70s Show
Xena: Warrior Princess
Can you think of any others? Let me know.

The other was.....New York Minute, Somebody's going to emergency, somebody's going to jail.....Sorkin always made his music selection very defining to the plot.
Nick, if all I had was The West Wing and Star Trek, TNG, I would be one happy TV dude!
I can't think of any, though.
(You mentioned "Chicago Hope"--Mandy Potemkin singing was scary)
And the musical episode on "Scrubs" has to be one of the most creative 1/2 hour comedy episodes ever made--especially "Guy Love"
who was on to sing Pretty Woman with Daisy Duke at his side.
