Casting Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho

Rate: 3 Flag
At first, I felt a chill run down my spine because I thought they were doing the unthinkable and remaking Psycho again, but they learned their lesson after the horrible, ill-advised Gus Van Sant shot-for-shot remake in 1998 of Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece. Instead, relief overcame me as I learned that Hollywood was instead adapting Stephen Rebello's highly acclaimed book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. The cast is shaping up to be fascinating...

Anthony Hopkins as director Alfred Hitchcock...

Scarlett Johansson as actress Janet Leigh, whose death scene in the horror classic became one of cinema's most iconic moments...

James D'Arcy as actor Anthony Perkins...

Jessica Biel as actress Vera Miles...

Helen Mirren as Hitchcock's wife Alma Reville...

The film will be directed by Sacha Gervasi. Hopefully, the movie version will capture the great behind-the-scenes details of the making of one of the finest thrillers of all time.

Sounds interesting. I've always wondered what the early audiences' reactions were to the unprecedented murder of one of the stars before the movie was half over. And the way she died. I'm also a huge Anthony Hopkins fan.
"Psycho" is one of my all-time favorites. The thought of ScarJo recreating the shower scene means I'll be attending.
Not a big fan of remakes, but you got me. Count me in.
I dunno, look at the eyes of the two Norman Bates, who is the more sinister? Those baby blues just don't seem to cut it. Fifty years from now, Mr. Perkins will still be Norman. No one can do Hitchcock music like Edward Herrmann. Who better to fall backward down the steps than Martin Balsam, poor Mr. Arbogast. Some movies, Nick, should not be reworked, its never the same.

Tomorrow you will be telling us that Mike, "The Situation" will be staring as Rick in Casablanca and Lady GaGa as Ilsa. Wow! Play some of the old songs, Sam!
Who's going to play the mother's corpse?

The guy in the room next to mine sophomore year in college would play the Psycho soundtrack at night. The screeching stabbing music makes for edge of the bed sleeping conditions.
The great thing about Anthony Perkins was that he totally DIDN'T look crazy. After all these years I know it's not a spoiler anymore so I'll just say it, he was totally sympathetic throughout the entire movie, and in a movie full of shocks the biggest shock was the big reveal that it was Norman Bates, not his mom, doing the killings. Imagine the audience reaction to that! :)
Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock. Interesting. Sent this to my wife. She'll love it.
