The Super Bowl Movie Commercials of 2013

Rate: 1 Flag
People are still buzzing about the best and worst commercials during this year's Super Bowl. Personally, my favorites are always the sneak peaks at the upcoming movies that will be coming our way in the months ahead.  Here's a look at the ones that were hyped this year during the Big Game.

Fast and Furious 6 - Vin Diesel, the Rock, and Paul Walker are back in vehicular action in part six (yes, part SIX) of this successful franchise as cars race, go flying, and are smashed to bits.

Iron Man 3 - The third film in the armor-suited Avenger's series looks to be a good one as we see clips of a beaten up Tony Stark, the villainous Mandarin, the red-white-and-blue version of War Machine, and lots of explosions.  Marvel's string of hits will surely continue.

The Lone Ranger - The cinematography looks great, but will Johnny Depp steal the show as Tonto?

Oz: The Great and Powerful - I'm hoping for the best with this.  The visuals look amazing and there seem to be some nice homages to the 1938 classic. Let's hope it has a decent story as well.

Snitch - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has a bunch of movies coming out.  This one seems like your standard action-adventure flick.

Star Trek Into Darkness - In the new commercial for one of the most anticipated films of the year, we see the Starship Enterprise in near ruin, we witness another tantalizing look at the mysterious villain, we see Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock trying to save the world (and the galaxy?) from a large scale terrorist attack.  Set phasers on stun!

World War Z - The book on which it's based was great, but this commercial doesn't really show any hint that the storyline deals with zombies.  Yes, we see Brad Pitt trying to protect his family.  We see chaos on the streets of New York. We see what seems like a mountain of human bodies trying to escape some horrific danger.  He hear someone explain that "we lost the East Coast, and China too." Yet, the uninitiated is offered no clue that we're dealing with the undead.

Now let's take a quick look at a couple of trailers for entertainment that is not movie related.

God of War: Ascension - This teaser for the upcoming videogame is beautiful and perfectly establishes the premise.

Stephen King's Under the Dome - This was just a very brief glimpse at the upcoming television series, but it definitely piqued the interest of anyone who enjoyed the novel.

Did you have a favorite commercial?  Let me know.

Viewer beware! If the trailer looks really good: most likely the movie stinks. R

I'll keep them all. I rarely get four comments in a row any more, so it made me feel good to know someone was actually reading. :)
