Left unspoken

Rate: 27 Flag

In this, 2012 Year of the Water Dragon, may we find the strength to speak our truths to one another clearly & with calm.

May the past fall into place, the present line up with our expectations, the future unfold gently & may it rain wherever it's needed.

May we leave nothing unspoken but harshness , and be unafraid to share the beauty in our souls. May we laugh together, & love fearlessly.

( I enjoy artificial flowers & trainsets. There, I said it. )

At least I don't iron my underpants.

Bonus clip :

 Hope you love it ;-)

Did this win one of those Australian AARP awards?
It could use subtitles .
Larry it was just a finalist in tropfest ~ never won anything.
I'd be happy transcribe the whole damn conversation, for you.
They are speaking English though ~ promise.
I saw AARP at jlsathre's bookshop post ~ don't know what it means but I suspect you're having a lend of me ...
What a film. Gets to you think. Thanks for posting.
For those unused to the Australian accent ;-) :
( Just the lead-in )

'Do you wanna go ?'
'No.'
'You sure ?'
'Yeah ... & besides, the traffic'll be a nightmare.'

May it never happen again, & may we make the most of every precious moment, from this time on.

Hi Sheila,
Thanks for watching ~ food for thought, for sure ...
Nothing says "you complete me" like a giant mushroom cloud.

This was disturbingly romantic.
'disturbingly romantic' works for me, magpie ~ thanks.

daisy jane I can't begin to tell you the relief, being able to unload here without the trainset snark I'm subjected to on the other sites.
Sorry you couldn't understand what any of these people were saying, but I look forward to a post about bloomers. Any post about bloomers will probably go EP.
I, um... man, I'm so embarrassed to say this... couldn't understand it either. That first one. Or half of it.

AARP? Card-carrying member.
i love it. them. both. especially damien's brother.
I didn't understand a word of it either but German does sound prettier with an Australian accent.
Sorry about that.
We ( here ) tend to take it for granted that we can be understood ~ obviously in this case, not so much. My apologies.

DB,
It's basically a conversation between two people aware their time is running out ~ the things we might say to each other, in such an event.

Thanks, Candace ~ that one is beautiful isn't it.

Margaret, danke.
Haven't watched the vids yet, but your words here were like a gift, a benediction. Thank you for that.
Thank you nan.
Chinese New Year began here today ~ 23.
Been 60 years since the last Water Dragon ( 竜 ) year, the year I was born. All sorts of predictions about what to expect ~ I'm aiming for the middle road myself. Enough mayhem already.
May we live in uninteresting times.
Hold on, & keep an umbrella.
Perhaps I am used to the accent somehow, but no trouble here in that regard.
Viewing here In the Pa countryside at 4:30am, they make perfect sense, for this moment and the year to come.
My name is Rita and I am afraid of cows, Yes, terrified. I also like hats, all kinds. I will keep coming back, my truths are terrifically pedantic, I need to remedy that. Or not.
Your truths are good with me, Rita.

Be not terrified of the cow, though. ( ancient chinese proverb )

Watching two European women fighting for the third set of the Australian Open ~ Lisicio v Sharapova ~ revealing headgear ... the mind of the hat enthusiast might occasionally wander ...

The cute 'kid' the nice editor?

You foreign chaps talk funny.
You tapped this in Manhattan?
It's the sexiest ER film I know.
Life IS too short.

I watched both a couple of times. Both made me stop and think for a bit ... and then some. Thank you for that, Kim.

I can't say it any better than you already have, Kim ... for this is perfect ...

"May we leave nothing unspoken but harshness , and be unafraid to share the beauty in our souls.
May we laugh together, & love fearlessly. "
I wasn't born in the Year of the Water Dragon (as far as I know), just in the Year of the Dragon, 1964, and this is the fourth time it's rolled around again since then. Yes, I'm 48 in a couple months, but were all those place mats I've seen at Chinese restaurants mistaken in not calling it the Year of the Water Dragon? Is a WATER dragon better than a regular dragon in some way? Are you disrespecting me? I've killed men for less.
Love this...reminds me of Celtic...
Algis, thank you. Cheers to you, in this New Year as well.

Art you talk funny.
A friend in Illinois wears a gourd occasionally
~ don't ask what occasion.
We wear boxers like almost everyone else ~ going 'combat' is something
Americans taught us. It's hot in the jungle ~ a person needs ventilation.
We Must Speak, about the puffins & the pekingese, geese in boxers & brothers in gourds, I think. Thank you.

I'm glad you found them, Kate.
:-)

daisy jane you really couldn't make out what they're saying ? Maybe Larry's right. Maybe it really needs subtitles.
The first is still ultimately positive though ~ break through & love & share now, while we can, I think.

nanatehay,
64 was the Year of the Wood Dragon, which makes sense ~ you're a Carpenter.
76 was Fire ; 88 was Earth ; & 2000 was Metal.
It will be Wood again when you're 60.
Meantime its Water again, but we're all Dragons.
Each have our strengths. The thing is, we're the only mythical creature in the Chinese zodiac, unless you count Rabbits.

Celtic, Patrick ?
We really are straying from English here. I'm glad you enjoyed though ~ thank you.
It was the last line: "Don't let go." That's all I ask of the inevitable.
I had not a bit of trouble understanding Kim. But maybe is was because of a crush I once had on an Aussie back in Newfoundland...where was I??
Oh yeah.
May we all have no more misunderstandings. And learn to be kinder and gentler with our brethern ....
I'm glad you caught it Linnnn ~ me too.
Mission :-) ~ & yes, yes.
"Someone's dollar on the ground. Whoever dropped that should be more careful with their money!"

Yes. The second film was indeed a great bonus!
Kim - This is exquisite. A fine piece of bearing your soul for all the world to see. Once you allow someone to see into your soul, the rest as they say is "History." May you love fearfully for that one who likes plastic flowers and trainsets too. Rated with a Jali smile of course. :-)
(Underpants need no ironing, just removing!)
Ari (director) sounds like he's a really fun first date himself.

P.S. I understood every word and do not require subtitles. Do I get the lizard as a prize?
These were wonderful. Live each moment openly.
Thanks, Kim, for brightening an otherwise most dismal morning. She really is the most attractive girl in the whole world.
Well, I haven't checked out the videos, but I do like your New Year's sentiments.
Beautifully wished.
May it be so.
After reading the comments, I'm almost afraid to click on those film clips...is this some test of character? Like, 'can YOU understand the Aussies' test?
AARP -- the second one turns 50 in the US, AARP comes and finds you. American Association of Retired Persons or something like that. Not that anyone retires at 50. They just let you know you're ancient. The minute one turns 50. The cake just shows up at one's door. All those damned candles....
Some of these comments remind me of when I was 13 and living with my grandparents in Seattle for the summer. The Beatles film'A Hard Days Night ' came out and many teenage girls asked me to translate what they said as I had a British family..
Excuse me? LOL
I don't know about if I believe in God but he's there and I am sure he cried during the Titanic also.

Well done and interesting films.
HUGGGGGGGGGGG
I have no use for Chinese year-designations on account of they call me a rat.
I too, actually like Britney Spears. Yeah, said it.
The year of truths yknow
so much with so little
loved that

(My confession: I live to wrinkle underwear...)

may this year see us become all we strive for
all we need and hope to be
and you in it as well.
Blessings be.

Wow, I shouldn't have watched these over my lunch hour. Now I shall return to work with red eyes. My secret...I do cry, shhh, don't tell anybody.
Linnnn, thanks for that. It made me think of a kid long ago who left pennies around the schoolyard so other kids could find them.
I'm glad you came back & saw the second one.

Jali, thanks for brightening my page with your beautiful avatar, & lovely comment ( though I'd say silk over plastic, flowers ... )
(Underpants need no ironing, just removing!) ~ Ha !

greenheron,
I'm sure ari would be a circus. I'm glad you understood ~ the dragon is in the mail ;-)

jlsathre thank you. 'Live each moment openly,' indeed.

John,
I'm glad if I was able to bring you a smile. Thanks for visiting.
Watched the two films finally. They're both excellent, but why didn't the couple in the first one spend their last five minutes more productively by sprinting over that hill and as far from ground zero as possible?
How beautiful ... both of these ...
Hard to find words ... just yet ...
perhaps because your words ...
say everything ...
lovely gifts ... given ...
spoken ... here ...
and time ...
to be with them ...
Just Thinking,
Thanks for clearing up the AARP thing. That's a bit young, I think.
Here when you turn 100 you get a Letter From The Queen.
Mom's hanging out for hers.
Be not afraid of the videos, for they are Not a Test. (ancient chinese proverb)

Hugs, Linda.
Even I couldn't understand the Liverpudlians ! Funny how when they sing though, every word is clear. Abba were like that too ;-)
I bet God cried when he watched The Passion of Christ.

Myriad,
Rat – 鼠 (子) (Yang, 1st Trine, Fixed Element Water): Forthright, tenacious, intense, meticulous, charismatic, sensitive, intellectual, industrious, charming, eloquent, sociable, artistic, and shrewd.
Dragons & Rats share the 1st Trine with Monkey ~ we are in good, if not tricky company.

Thank you, Mary. Oddly nice is good, I think :-)

tr ig,
Your secret's safe here. I won't tell anyone else, or about you & Celine Dion either. Unless you go blabbing about my Kylie Minogue collection.

Persistent Muse,
That's lovely :-) ~ thank you.
Ox – 牛 (丑) (Water buffalo in Vietnam) (Yin, 2nd Trine, Fixed Element Water): Dependable, ambitious, calm, methodical, born leader, patient, hardworking, conventional, steady, modest, logical, resolute, tenacious. ... 'conventional' ?

Rennis,
Beautiful ... thanks.

nan,
That's exactly the sort of question my father would have asked ... aren't we supposed to suspend disbelief for a moment ?
Anyway, really, how far are you gonna run from one of those things ?
No, I think they made the right choice. They stayed in the moment. They chose incineration, but they did it to make a video. We must never forget them, & what they did, for us, is it.

anna1liese,
Thank you. I hope you find them as uplifting as I did.
ps. There's a maybe indistinct bit where the girl in Left unspoken says : I drink milk straight from the carton ... I know, I know ... but it tastes better that way I swear !
Secrets, what are they good for ? ... ;-)
The milkman’s daughter in me smiled at her secret ... and at her smile. It does taste better and doesn’t everyone ... at least when one is on one’s own!
Always I am so caught in the serious and then you make me smile.
Kim, wow! I really needed this. The things I like are also benign I don't mind admitting I like velveeeta fake cheese and hot dogs. I'm not averse to permanent blooms and trainsets but would be to a child molester. In a choice between dirty and pressed undies pressed seems a fabulous choice. Everything is relative.

I got a little teary eyed on the 2nd vid at the end. See I said it, I got teary eyed. Seriously, I'm learning to speak and your words were a gift.
Kim - thanks for the help. Between the tinnitis, their accents, the speaker on my computer, and the sound quality of the film (why is good sound so EXPENSIVE?), I felt like one deaf old man.

I didn't even get to say that I really loved the second one. What a quirky piece, what a great ending, and what a wonderful change he wrought on the girl.

Is this what Australians do? They wreak change on folks?
Thanks, Bleue. Between used & no I'd go no, definitely.
While we're sharing, I enjoy the odd hot dog as well ~ they don't come around too often, thank goodness ~ mainly fetes or fairs ...
& I think teary-eyed is the correct response, for Be My Brother, myself.

Bard I'm glad you persisted & found it worthwhile. The second sums it up, doesn't it, about our preconceived notions.
Anyone with a good heart, I think, wreaks the change. We have our share of bastards down here too, believe me ;-)

( ps. I like the way the dollar he found came in handy on the bus. In case anyone was wondering, 'special' people ride free here. )
Glad I made you smile, anna1liese.
first one- gaahhh. I am just not romantic, not even a little. The second one was charming.
Thanks Julie ;-)
Glad you liked the second one.
Sweet and sour. And I understood them completely, thanks Baz Luhrman! Was the ironing of underwear being anal a joke? Because I thought it was funny. :)
Yes, may we find that strength to speak our truths. Great short. Simba is everywhere! On another note ... one of your Aussie natives (Russell Crowe) came and played a 'thug' role in one of our Maritime TV shows in Newfoundland ... Newfoundland is as far away from Hollywood as you could imagine, both geographically and culturally. His band played in some local pubs ...everyone loved him. And vice versa.
Scarlett I'm so glad to hear that.
From all accounts he really is a very nice guy. Thanks, & thanks for visiting.
Came back to watch again and read your calming words for the new year. I hope for us both Kim, and our loved ones.
Thanks Rita.
I sort of wish she hadn't quoted Ayn Rand, but maybe there was a point to that I missed ... anyway, yes :-)
