Very rarely, we come across a politician who not only sees behind the curtain but dares to expose the men and women pulling the strings behind it. I have seen Marcy Kaptur on C-Span before, railing against bail outs but not until I saw her interviewed by Michael Moore in "Capitalism: A Love Story" did I truly understand how willing she is to stick her neck out for the greater good of our country, exposing wrong doing from both sides of the aisle.
To speak the pure truth as a politician is the most courageous thing even though it obviously should be the norm. We all know better. I decided I was going to dedicate a post to her voice after seeing her willing to be interviewed at length by Moore. She may be little known to many but she should be well known to all. This lady deserves a spot at the highest level in government in my humble opinion. Her stance on homeowners squatting in their homes being stolen from underneath them is truly inspiring. As Thoreau wrote, we need some civil disobedience.
I'll let you watch her speech above and her interview with Mr. Moyers and form your own opinion. I know I have formed mine. If we had more elected servants who had our (everyone, not 1%) best interest at heart, our country could be the great country people think it is. Until then, we will not. We didn't bail out Wall Street to keep our economy from collapsing, we bailed out Wall Street to feed the beast. I'm appalled at the extent that Goldman Sachs controls this country. You should be as well. If you're looking for a hero, this lady certainly fits the description.

Yes, your evaluation of Goldman/TheMarket's horribly corrupt nature is spot on; No, we did not per se bail out the feed lot.
The danger with far left and right thinking is the pure fantasy, the total naivete involved in the idea that we could do nothing, just because our system is rotten at the top, and things would work out- WRONG, AND A SAD JOKE!
Without the bail-out we would now be in a world wide depression, the whole world screwed. Thanks again US citizens, as in WWI and II you've saved the world again!
You can bury your head but there's no getting around the fact that the markets are emotion based- they are there to engender fear and greed- THAT'S IT!
All the more reason for a mixed economy, and notice this week we are getting there. All you non-Hawaiians will slowly see how our HAWAIIAN prez does it- slow, steady and sure- kool, low-key and laid-back

This woman is absolutely amazing and well-loved and respected in Northwest Ohio. I recently attended a luncheon for the African-American Legacy Project here in Toledo and guess who was there? Marcy!
She wasn't on the program but she came to support "legacies" and ancestors. I sat at a table with one of her aids.
I heard someone on a news show recently say she should run for President. I wish she would! I'd campaign for her.
There is a program for seniors here in Lucas County that allows them to get fresh vegetables from local growers at a discount rate.
I thought it was available to seniors throughout the state and told my mother who lives in Columbus about it. However, this program is only in Lucas County and it was the brainchild of none other than March Kaptur!

Oahu, first of all take a pill. Secondly, I'm referring to the first Bush/Cheney created bail out. Can you "show me the money"? Can you show me where it went? The Obama 700 billion I can. I can't tell you, nor you me what the companies did with the money (a problem), but at least we know it went to them to save the economy.
