I tend to view it in more of an "US" and "THEM" kind of way, all the rest is just too complex to really worry about. I did enjoy this though. Thanks for posting it.
Torman and Andy. Thanks for seeing the humor. When I first saw this I laughed hard. Yes, it's sad that many really see the world this way, but this is just all about the laugh.
Trig - please translate, and be nice because I really do have purse straps!
Scanner - I think there are probably many adults who would think this is real too!
Bob - wish I could take credit for this, but I cannot. It's someone's original, but not mine. It was sent to me a long time ago, so I found it online and thought I would share it.
Bob, I would certainly give credit, but if you google "the world according to Americans" and then look at 'images' there are dozens of this map. I wouldn't know who to give credit to. It was originally sent to me in an email without any credit, so I'm in the dark. I don't know what the rules are for this kind of stuff, but I thought it was funny and wanted to share. Hope I didn't do something bad.
Clever, although it's missing Israel, which based on this scheme should be at least half the size of the US. I had to think of a "test" somebody did back in the 80s where they'd show college students a map of the world showing borders but no names. At least a quarter of the students identified the Soviet Union as the US since it was the largest country.
Yup. As a Canadian, that's about how it feels. You should see what your weather news maps look like. It is like the rest of the world doesn't have weather either. Considering we are your LARGEST trading partner bar none, you'd think all those truckers crossing the border would care whether that snow storm in Buffalo is affecting Niagara Falls Canada. But nope. Weather does not exist outside your borders either. It is weird. Where does your weather come from, where does it go? No one knows and no one cares.
And it's really all kids need to know. I remember spending a lot of time in high school learning the names of countries and their capitals, as well as their types of governments. At least a third of what I learned is no longer true.
Yes, I don't get that either, JK. And I know how many semis there are. When hubby and I went to Niagara Falls a couple of years ago there were tons of them - we were in a little Pontiac Solstice and I was scared to death that they wouldn't be able to see us and would crush us!
Squeakin' By - wouldn't surprise me!
Screamin mama - thanks for stopping by.
Leeds - I have the same problem!
Donna - too funny.
Thanks to all for stopping by.
Dorinda - thanks for the plug on my post - I have some that are much better - you should try reading them, since you're hanging around here at my blog just doing nothing, which in itself is surprising since I thought you didn't have any use for me or what I write. Thanks for stopping by!

Alan- it is sad what our children learn, or don't learn as the case may be. Thanks for stopping by.
Ooops sorry, bit of a soapbox moment. It's early.
