As we continued along our journey from the eastern edges of Colfax Avenue to the mountains, we had just arrived in the All America City of AURORA - land of opportunity, clean rooms, and adult movies. Colfax was once the major thoroughfare through Denver, and the avenue is still cluttered with motor lodges, motels, and motor inns, all with nightly and weekly rates.

Right here, we were stopped by a mother and her two children asking us what we were doing, and who were we taking pictures for. The mother proceeded to tell us that if we really wanted some good pictures - of crack dealers, and tweakers, and gang members, we should pop over to her house in an hour, and there would be a show for us on her lawn. She promised not to throw things at our car, like she does to the crackheads. She had to take on the policing of her neighborhood herself because she said the police don't do anything. One of her daughters asked wistfully if we were making a movie. I wish I could have told her "yes."

I looked at the map to see where these are and found that Colfax is not only US 40, but also US 287, which passes just to west of our home in Texas. Hop on and come on down. Loads of interesting pictures between here and there. Or, better yet, let me know when you leave and I'll leave here and we can meet in the middle and swap pixels.
Love this.
