Sara and I decided we needed to go over Independance Pass once more before she left Colorado. So, on Saturday October 16, we set out to do just that...
Colorado - see that circle? that is the area where Independance Pass is. It is usually closed by this time of year. Because of snow.
Kenosha Pass, Colorado - 10,000 feet above sea level
Kenosha Pass, Colorado - we wanted to follow the old railroad tracks into the woods, until we heard a "BOOM!".....
...and even though neither of us look like moose, we weren't wearing orange and didn't want to risk an inexperienced hunter's excited shooting....
South Park, Colorado (the real place)
Red Barn - South Park, Colorado
Windmill - South Park, Colorado
"In this Valley, the towns of Robinson, Kokomo and Recen existed. Kokomo was the site of the Highest Masonic Lodge in the USA. Corinthian Lodge No. 42 1882 - 1966" - near Leadville, Colorado
Manhattan Bar - Leadville, Colorado
to be continued...

My wife and I lived in Durango for several years, passing over Red Mountain pass to Telluride many times (Wolf Creek Pass twice). My wife hated those drives, winter or summer.
Beautiful pics KM - I'd never been to Molly Brown's Leadville before. Cool old buildings.
It seems a lot of people are posting about CO the past week -

My grandfather had a ranch in North Park (Walden) area for many years. Colorado will always be a huge chunk of my heart!
I am so glad you all liked the photos - there is one more installment coming with the actual trip up over Independance Pass. Hopefully you will enjoy that one just as much. :)
thank you all!
