I often dream of trains till it gets light

The summer turns to winter overnight

The leaves fall so suddenly

The sun sets at four o'clock

Exactly what I'm dreading

I often dream of trains when I'm with you

I love the four degrees of steam in your photos and that you chose to include them all in your post.
This is a beautiful post...xox
I love trains too! Great pics.
Wonderful photos! Intriguing and eery at the same time.
exceptional photographs, km. the poem is great, but the pics are waaay better.
My neck of the woods. Fabulous pics!
Dreaming of trains myself. Nothing more lonely or beautiful than the echo of trains passing in the darkest hours of the night.

Thank you for these fabulous photos!
Oh when these machines were cutting edge technology.
thanks so much for the comments! we happened to be in New Hope right as the post-Christmas blizzard was moving into the upper east coast, and the snow had really started to fall right as we were passing the train. and since i can never pass up a chance to take pics of trains, i was thrilled. the steam, the snow....so beautiful. thank you for coming by, all of you!
I grew up to the sound of trains, whistles and going under ground in a tunnel under one of my homes.. they bring back memories of summer nights and being newly married holding on to each other as the train went under the house. Beautiful in such a dreamy perfect way. Loved this.
you probably know what I think without me even saying, but I will anyway. I love this kmb, you do magic with trains and the context of the dream is perfect as are your words. artistry artistry. At first I thought the two lights in the steamy foggy background were a distraction, but in context they fit in perfectly with the dreamscape.

Well done, just love it. xo
@bbd: thank you - i was quite uncertain about how distracting those lights were, but i decided to just let it go because i liked the steam and the snow so much. thanks for confirming that i made a decent decision on that.
and thank you so much for your support (and liking my trains). i was looking back over the last few years and i really see improvement in my photos, and in my ability to make good choices when taking a picture - your input is (and has been) invaluable. :) thanks for taking your time with me. :)
I share your love of trains. I have fond memories as a child of hearing the sound of the rolling, whistles of the Santa Fe railroad engine near my Grandmothers Oklahoma farm.
Steam engine whistles are my favorite and I loved the Jeremy Brett, Sherlock Holmes PBS series as it had such great steam trains in it.
Thanks for sharing.
love the photos. R
I love trains, old trains, new trains, it doesn't matter.
Thanks for the great pictures!
