I just read http://www.alternet.org/story/152522/fundamental_political_and_economic_mistakes_are_speeding_up_america's_decline?page=1, another 5 page essay about the decline of the American empire. What astonishes me is your willingness to discuss instead of doing something, a society stuck in a illusion of own perfection as leader of the universe.
To my experience the only way to be able to achieve progress is to seek knowledge and apply skills. Dreaming gets you nowhere nor will arguing about who came about it first, and argue about who designed the "tick" and the "tac" - I do not mean the game, but the marks.
They need to see that there are a number of ways to play the game. There is only one way to win , that is to innovate make yours better. Use skills not lawyers. Just go ahead, let Samsung pay MS so that they can keep Apple at distance. Well done - get them to litigate, giving Samsung time to make better products that cannot be contested by MS nor Apple. Now, what is innovated, what is created, what new skills are demanded? Maybe I know too much when I find that I can teach my consultants.
Try to argue the truth gets you, be that of a community, a company, the sate or the Union of States nowhere. It creates wealthy lawyers.
