After Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachman reduced a room full of the most culturally deaf people in America to awkward silence, at a CPAC event on Friday, with her faux-ebonics style, “YOU BE DA MAN”, shout out to RNC Chair Michael Steele; she was forced to do damage control over the weekend.
Appearing in front of reporters, after church on Sunday morning, Bachman apologized for her insensitive remarks:
“I would like to extend my deepest apologies to Michael Steele and his family. My remarks were intended to be a humorous send up of his cultural background, and were not meant to be hurtful or disrespectful to him or his family. I think Michael Steele is a credit to his people, and I have nothing but respect for what he’s achieved considering where he comes from. In the words of my Chinaman dry cleaner, ‘Me sol solly, most honorable Black man. Me love you long time. Too boku Michael Steele, too boku.”
When her apology failed to elicit the peels of raucous laughter and cheers of appreciation she had envisioned in her mind’s eye, Bachman continued:
“Gee tough crowd huh? Well don’t make me call my crazy neighbor Mr. Gumba to straighten you out. Uh oh, here he comes, ‘Aye wassa matta for u? Dissa nice lady tryya to a-pol-o-gize, anna use people makkin her feel-a-notsonice. Wassa matta for u? Cap-ee-shhh? Imma da typa guy who likes-a-big pizza-pie!!”
Again, met with silence louder than a bomb, Bachman wheeled out her time tested closer to cap her apology and patch any damage she may have caused to the RNC’s big tent.
“Alright you guys are giving me a hard time, I get it. I should warn you that you’ve made Shylock McJewster angry. Here he comes to foreclose on all your homes and embroil you in elaborate affinity style Ponzi schemes....”
When reached for a comment Susie Smilesson of Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District said:
“Embarrassed? Of course we’re not embarrassed by Michelle. You people are always taking what she says out of context; just like with Sarah and Jesus. We know what she’s done for this district and we love her. For instance none of you people ever reported on the amazing high-power lines she brought to us here in the 6th. We’re just so proud of them, and we find them beautiful; most of us picnic under them every day. Report on that for a change.”

I agree with you, Bill. You could see it on his face, especially when she said it again.

"Arch-conservative Rep. Michele Bachmann narrowly won reelection last night. Bachmann fended off a challenge from Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg that became serious after her appearance on Hardball last month when she claimed -- to the shock of many in her district -- that Barack Obama and his wife Michelle held anti-American views and couldn't be trusted in the White House. She even called for the major newspapers of the country to investigate other members of Congress to "find out if they are pro-America or anti-America."
