We love Jon Stewart. We just had to write you all a letter letting you know that we love him so very much and think he isn't sexist at all, and neither is our workplace. We have nothing invested in saying so either--certainly not our jobs, or our reputations in the industry. Anywho!
We are women, as in, ladies! And we work on the Daily Show! Did we mention that? Yes! Did we also mention how much we really love working on the Daily Show and how there is nothing at all that is unfair about working on the Daily Show? Not even kind of? And it's not even as unfair to women or minorities as any other American workplace? Yes! It's TRUE!
Another fun fact--women do the makeup on the Daily Show! Women also are assistants to a lot of different very important men on the show! Yes! Women and ladies do an awful lot of makeup and an awful lot of assisting for an awful lot of very important men who are not at all sexist! Women even help write the jokes--after all, we make up 40% of the staff of the Daily Show! Did you know that?
You probably didn't know that because we don't, in fact, get forty percent of the credit for writing the jokes. we also don't get forty percent of the screen time. Oh, and forty percent of the show's segments are not devoted to issues that disproportionately impact women, so it's totally understandable that you wouldn't, in fact, know that.
Does this make the Daily Show any worse than any other show on Comedy Central, or, for that matter, on any other network, given that almost half--cause 40% is almost half!--of the people who work on TDS show are ladies but almost half of the credited writers and joke-tellers are not, in fact, ladies? No, of course not! But does it make it any better? Yes! Because Jon Stewart is so nice and we all want to marry him! Duh!
