Well, I did have some other things in the works, but I guess on June 26th, I'll be posting something about Dan Froomkin. I've been a fan of his for quite awhile now.
The best blogger at what metro DC could once properly call a newspaper has been let go. Terminated. So says Andrew Sullivan, and he's usually on top of his sources.
Guess this is how the legacy media gets back at you when you decide to cover "verboten" topics. Like Torture. Or, when you make a case for what journalism used to be, i.e., knowing when to call bullsh*t.
In other words, my June 26th post will not be just about Torture, though that topic is certainly big enough, but now I will have to go "meta" with it, and "cover" how the legacy media likes to "cover" for their sources, rather than report about them.
Oh, and if TPTB try to say it was something about his numbers or traffic, well, we know that simply isn't true. Froomkin has always been a destination blogger.

On the bright side, now Fred Hiatt has room for another neocon. He is probably going to be the proud owner of the world's largest collection.
Of course, you're right nanatehay, as there's always more to the story, but it is quite a coincidence that Froomkin only recently had a contretemps with Krauthammer on that very issue. Torture. Krauthammer, of course, thinks it's all to the good. Froomkin called him on it. Guess who's still there?
It could be argued that he had perhaps the most prominent venue from which such a position was being promulgated. With "White House" in the name of his blog and all that truth about torture, it just probably got to be too much to bear for those in the White House who want to "look forward".
Procopius... You are soooo succinct!
Amy Goodman is the only trustworthy TV anchor/reporter, but since I don't watch TV, I'm not in the habit of looking for her online show. Bill Moyers, probably another one I can still trust.
As for print, I still have some faith in McClatchy--maybe Froomkin can find a home there?
