Title
Assistant Guru (not to be confused with Assistant to the Guru)
Bio
Proud native Hoosier who’s settled permanently in New Orleans. Teach English. Live in an old whorehouse with three very talkative and sexually-confused birds and one very talkative bird that isn’t sexually confused at all but just wants what s/he wants, which is pretty much everything and everybody. They appear quite frequently in my writing. Former bedpan wrangler, radio announcer, preschool teacher, and freshman comp. instructor. Once accidentally picked out A Clockwork Orange for a make-out movie. Have a very rational appreciation for the works of Flannery O’Connor and the television show The X-Files and an irrational fear of Meg Ryan. All my friends are drunks.

In my defense, neither of Ginny's boys can read yet.

That birthday cake is of a nutria doing the backstroke. I requested it.
happy fucking birthday, leeandra! whooooooo! and i *love* the nutria cake -- best birthday day ever, i swear.
Oh, hell, this is what blogging is all about! This was a hoot! Love the soundtrack, too.
I'd like to see that birthday cake. So would my nutria. Happy b-day.
OMG... I missed your birthday. So sorry! Belated happy happy...
Ginny's kid did get in better hits at the pinata than my brother and I did, even though he's only four. He also had a better angle, and did not have copious amounts of beer in his bloodstream.
Happy fucking birthday!!! And I saw no important corruption taking place at any point . . .
That's some awesome. But, um, I think you're supposed to be blindfolded for pinada whacking.
Mrs. Michaels--We forgot to pack one.

That pinata was made out of cardboard and held together with Superglue, and we were using a broken wiffleball bat. Plus, all of us but Emery were drunk. It was enough of a challenge.
Owl--We figured that if some random kid saw the pinata and knew what it said, he was already corrupt.
Is that Ralph's in the first shot?
No, it's the bar at K-Joe's on St. Louis. I work there, and my brother and his girlfriend had come in to surprise me.
Kind of high hanging pinata.
