Stephen King

Just finished reading "Stephen King's God Trip" by John Marks.  I've read very little of King's work but I did read his book On Writing.  In that book he comes off as someone that is thoughtful and contemplative.  It seems difficult for him to come to a definant decision about a range of issues and perhaps that what contributes to him being such an incredible story teller.  Regardless if you like his work or not, I don't read it because it tends to be written for 10 year olds, he is an incredible story teller.  This interview was interesting because Marks does an excellent job of asking some in depth questions and correlates much the topics of today with books written by King in the past.  I appreciated, also, that King doesn't take religion for granted.  It's not a definite thing, it's what many are raised with.  His idea of an afterlife, if there is one, is intriguing because he says that we all create our own afterlife based on the mumble jumble of information and dreams that are in our heads.  So, when we die our brains trigger this last effect, which is whatever it is that you believe the afterlife will be, and then your brain works it like a dream.  I suppose when it comes down to it, how do we discern between life and a dream?  With that in mind (pun intended) perhaps the idea of an afterlife isn't so impossible.

 I'm still an Atheist though.
