Parkadise Lost

Rate: 3 Flag

You've circled the block five times
In search of a spot for your car,
Frustration mounting fast
Making you wish for a bar.

And then an oasis appears:
A woman sliding in
Behind a Chevy wheel.
Beats a tonic-and-gin!

You parallel your Ford
And quickly mouth "Going out?"
And in response she nods
Her head--success sans doubt.

You smile from shoulder to shoulder
And praise your lucky day,
Preparing to move in
And shout a loud hurray.

But then she reaches down
And suddenly you're vexing--
She's taken out a phone
And is commencing texting.

Five awful minutes pass.
You're ready for a cage.
You slap your steering wheel.
Hello to parking rage!

This EXACT thing happened to my husband & I this week-end, when we chose to drive RATHER than take the shuttle to the Earth Day gig at BalBoa Park (San Diego). We KNOW parking is already impossible to find on the week-end but with the Earth Day thing going on-Yeah-we thought we hit the jack-pot until the texting started. Then, we just sat there & laughed at ourselves for being so silly & by the time the texter yielded the parking space, we had changed our minds about the whole thing and headed for the beach instead...Margaritaville...paradise (not exactly Milton's) found.
Glad you don't have to deal with that now? The transit system here is a blessing.
