Following is the obituary I wrote this week for my mother-in-law, who died last Monday. It's been a long week, but we've been feeling lucky and loved.
Obituary for Mrs. Pat Lovvorn
Patricia Ann Lovvorn died unexpectedly at home on April 25, 2011. Pat was born August 9, 1947 in Heard County, Ga. to Geneva and James Hyatt. She was 63 years old.
Pat married Ronnie K. Lovvorn on July 3, 1965. Their family was completed when their son, Keelan, joined them in 1970. She also opened her home to cousins Connie and Darrell Wright and enjoyed watching them grow. She relished the roles of wife and mother, and loved her family wholeheartedly. She had an eye for beautiful things and enjoyed making her home sparkle—a fact to which anyone who ever drove by it during Christmas season can attest. She was particularly proud to see photos of her holiday lights on the cover of the Bowdon newspaper, and loved hearing people talk about how their display made people smile.
She worked for a number of years with Dr. J.M. Teate’s veterinary office, Bowdon Animal Clinic. She also worked at West Georgia College, and then opened a daycare in her home. She took great pride in all of “her kids”, and loved following their accomplishments as they grew up. She maintained contact with all of them, and had a particular love for Becca and Ali Jones, who she thought of as her adopted grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband, Ronnie K. Lovvorn of Bowdon, her son, Keelan (Rae) Lovvorn of Fort Mill, SC, her sisters Rita (Mrs. Jack) Ledbetter of Carrollton and Sharon Crook of Franklin, nephews Brant (Valerie) Ledbetter and Landon (Deborah) Ledbetter of Carrollton, niece Gisela (Mrs. Chuck) Roberts and Darrell Wright and numerous cousins and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a cousin Connie Wright.
Services for Mrs. Pat Lovvorn will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 27th from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m.
