Dr. Carhart's clinic raised over $7,000 today with the pledge-a-picket program - mainly through many small donations! People were driven to his website (trust-women.org) by recent news coverage of the anti-abortion mobilization this weekend (and our response!), as well as a major fund raising push during a morning call in show. A local radio station (playing the "best hits of the 70s, 80s, 90s and today") promoted the pledge-a-picket and the hosts (Todd & Tyler) even personally pledged to the clinic. Clinic staff reported that donors calling in were both responding the outrageous plans on the part of Operation Rescue, but also said that for years theyhad wanted to help but just didn't know how! Many people from Omaha, but also many from different states who had heard or seen Dr. Carhart on other recent media appearances.

Meanwhile, patients who came in today also said how relieved they were to see the large gathering of pro-choice clinic supporters in front and hear us chanting "Welcome! Welcome! The clinic stays open!" After weeks of news about the largest gathering of nasty people to yell and scream at them it was tremendously powerful to see all of us. One stated, "I was afraid and nervous to show up but when I saw so many people there to support me it made it that much easier."
