Nearly 40 OS writers responded to my blog last week about "hidden gems" they'd carefully crafted as members of our talented community - and purely for our amusement, edification or perusal.... Gems that, for whatever reason, perhaps didn't get the attention the writers hoped for or expected.
Let the unearthing begin.
We're launching a special compendium project of forgotten blogs tomorrow morning, and there's still time to participate.
If you have an underappreciated blog you'd like included (just one), please post it below or, if you'd rather have it unveiled at the time of publication, send me an e-mail.
Please include:
- the title of the blog
- a link to the blog, and
- a one or two sentence description, or compelling quote from the piece.
Deadline is Sunday evening, Nov. 16, at 11 p.m.
Ever the editor, and an eternal advocate for the writer in everyone,
Lisa R.

quote- "I was looking out the window, watching a sandstorm blow, rocking us gently. Outside was a moonscape, barren and forbidding...I felt like we were alone, just us against the moon...too soon there was the cold light of day."
Thanks for the opportunity- I love this one.
I wanted to submit this for another writer. I loved it and thought it was worth re-visiting:
"Dearly departed landlord"

It's about Steve's comical relationship with a late, beloved landlord.
It's fairly recent, but I felt it didn't get enough play. Thanks,

A Boomer Coming Full Circle
http://open.salon.com/content.php?cid=40279
A baby boomer reflects on presidential elections past and present.
I'm including a link to a post I wrote last week which received no ratings (the one that is showing on there is from a friend of mine in an attempt to get it read). I'm wondering if the post is really that bad or if it was simply overlooked.
Title: I Bought A Flag Today (and it feels good!)

Quote: As an unwilling participant in George W. Bush’s 8-year epic failure, I’ve lost many things...Of all of the things I've lost, though, none feels quite as disturbing as my inability to stop associating the American flag with George W. Bush.
By the way, I did look up and read all of the posts that were put on your initial blog request and truly found many gems in there. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I know that you're helping many writers get a second chance at reaching an audience.

There are beautiful illustrations along with M. Chariot's fascinating and descriptive text about his illustrations shown. Joan Walsh was the first to comment on the post, too.

Description: How one of my closest friends was beaten to death by gay bashers. "Because then as now, prejudice, hatred and violence were the weapons others used to confront a lifestyle that confused, offended and clouded their mainstream judgment."
This is such a good idea, thank you! I have actually considered reposting this, not only as a tribute to my friend, but because of its relevance today.
I am a lucky beta member, which means my average post does get more look than a newer member. I wasn't so much seeking an audience for me, and wanting to hear from other women about the topic.

Sentence or two:
"I’ve come up with a new name for a different kind of woman.
PAWS: Penis and Wallet Seekers
What these women want is a man with substance and we’re not talking sexy equipment packages. We’re talking wallets, the bigger the better, and preferably cash…lots of cash. Penis is optionl.
So for these women, it gets down to this: She wants a penis and a wallet. The penis is optional.
