Last night I was watching Conan and he said that this weekend would be the biggest drinking binge anyone has ever had. It seems that Conan has admitted defeat and is willing to walk away like an adult. Or maybe that is Conan's schtick--being a wuss who isn't worthy. Personally, I want him to go out in a blaze. He hinted at a passive aggressive tactic, spending money on playing Zeppelin and costing NBC lots. I am sure he is doing other passive aggressive things. He even has other hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly, and others fighting his fight more directly. I figure Conan doesn't want to burn any bridges and maybe it is in his personality to take the high ground.
But I want Conan to speak for every unemployed laid off worker in the U.S. He has more power than all of us, and he even has a voice. I want him literally to burn his set down and ruin his bosses lives.
Leno wrote a letter basically saying he wasn't at fault and Conan was sh*t out of luck. Other people are yelling at Leno--why doesn't Conan yell at him too?
Conan seems so passive it is irritating. I want him to be radical. I want him to act out of character. I want him to teach Obama a lesson that getting along is over-rated.
I want Conan to act like Don Draper after he was taken advantage of on the finale of Mad Men. He took his crew, all the work they had done, and started up their own small competition...all with grace, humor, support, and a lot of booze. Maybe the boozefest Conan is waiting for might involve some stealth plan to get NBC back...I can only hope.
The grown-ups might be in charge, but what use is that if the grown-ups are wimps. Maybe Conan should go, if he can't act a little uncivilized.
