In her arms he gently rests

Swathed, secure and snug

Eyes, firmly closed

And mouth, rose-pink, puckered

A hand, so small and plump

The plastic bracelet – a greeting to new life

Proudly, she embraces him

Uncertainty etched on her face

Young, yet mature

Scared, but ready to begin

He sits beside them both

On the edge, almost afloat

With protective arms

He envelops them

What a moment in a new life! It is a spark of something one never forgets.
And so nicely written. Each word working hard and all words carrying their weight well.
Truly....so well written
Very strong. Fine writing.

Ah, those tiny hands! Oh, the uncertainty one feels at that moment--how true. And how nice to have a protective, reassuring embrace. I love this.
JD, Scylla, Pilgrim: I'm so glad you liked this. It's my first poem so yours are indeed wonderful words of encouragement.
This was so great. I loved the rhythm of it. (I also love the bio quote. I'll try not to steal it, hah)
Scanner: Thank you .... I'm so glad you liked it.
Very gentle touch with the subject, yet left the reader with a strong impression. That's good poetry.

Strong last lines too. Good close.
