Threads of Silver

Rate: 19 Flag

Heaven-sent and unexpected

I found a thread of silver

It came to me in time of need

            And delivered me a saviour

Under dismal cloud of despair

            I’ve lingered much too long

I’ve felt my spirit fading fast

            And hope was almost gone

But across the miles and the seas

A treasure most rare I’ve seen

It touched my soul and gave me strength

And a shoulder on which to lean

There is a truth in what they say

A silver lining can be found

In ev’ry cloud above our head

            Silver threads of friendship abound

it's wonderful to have special friends on OS, a beautiful tribute to what they can mean.
I'm so happy someone was there for you when you needed them. Isn't this place a wonder! Lovely words..
didn't know you had such a talent for the verse, kate.
very nicely done, and kind.
So far and yet so close.
It is wonderful, this OS, that lets us meet people we wouldn't have otherwise.
Lovely poem.
mLee: A tribute well-deserved! And I am just so honoured to have you stop by so often mLee!

bbd: I've been so amazed about the community of OS and the friendships I've made!

LL2: It is indeed such a wonderful place ... and that special someone has been so generous and kind that I can't begin to thank them enough.

dianaani: I wouldn't say 'talent' but I try to write from the heart. Thank you for saying so though ... it's a great compliment from one I admire so!

vanessa: That's what so great about OS ... here I am way down here in Australia and I get to meet, talk, read and make friends with all of you!
Some days when I can't wait to finish my work so I can get to OS, I wonder if I've lost my grip on reality. Then I read something like this lovely poem, written on the surface of your heart, and I'm just fine. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Lezlie
What a lovely poem for someone obviously in your heart.
So wonderful Kate. I consider you a friend and I did know how good you were with verse. Just hope that "dismal cloud of despair" has parted.
Indeed you have been under that cloud too long. It is time to see the sun, my friend.

Your poetry here is so heartfelt and pure....as is your gentle soul.

VERY well done, my friend...... r---
This was so nice, a poem of hope. Theres never too many of those!
Very nice. I'm glad you've found exactly what you need here.
Lezlie: I often wonder about my grip on reality too, dear Lezlie! OS sucks us in and consumes a lot of time but, you know what? I think more than not it is time well spent. There are some amazing people here who give of their time and energy to help others when times are rough. I am indebted to one in particular.

Outside Myself: In my heart, tucked away in a special place, and there shall remain.

trilogy: And I consider you a friend too .. a very dear one! Thank you. The 'cloud' is not quite gone but working on it one step and one day at a time.

JD: Yes, 'tis indeed from my heart. Thank you dear friend.

scanner: Hope is sometimes all we have ... and you're right, we can never have too much of it.
I read your wonderful poem three times over because it felt like a ribbon wound it around my own soul.....amazing. Thank you!
What a lovely way to express your feeling touched by someone!
