A Poem in the Sand

Rate: 20 Flag

A Poem in the Sand

Cool ripples of water caress her toes

Sand percolates between

Sunshine and ocean dance playfully

Transcendent on serene

On gentle breeze, seagulls sashay and coast

Seeking a succulent feast

Calling loudly to each other

Then piercing cerulean sea

He knows she is there, waiting for him

On that distant hazy isle

In mind’s eye she waves to him

And on her face, a smile

Yes, eagerly she waits for him

With blissful anticipation

She lingers on shore’s edge

Gazing out across the ocean

She dreams of their togetherness

And the moment she holds his hand

And while she waits, she writes for him

A poem in the sand

...

...

...

With passing time they keep their faith

Conviction holds them tight

In heaven and earth they place their trust

And they will be alright

I really like the first two lines of this poem. We've all had the sand "percolate through our toes" as we stand at water's edge, just getting our feet wet. With admiration from across the world.
Lovely! Can you teleport me there?

Marty's Husband: A lovely feeling! And my return admiration back at you from this side of the world! :)

Poor Woman: I think you're the second person in the last week who has mentioned 'teleporting'! Wouldn't it be wonderful!!!!
Nice, nice--very nice. I think poetry is in the air tonight.
The world has just lifted and all, all is well.
Hells Bells: Hi! I hope poetry, love and laughter are in the air tonight! Happy wishes to you!
anna1liese: And you've just brightened my day to know that you are well, my friend! Love to you!
This is so lovely. I want to be there waiting, writing my own poem in the sand.
rated with love.
Romantic Poetess: And you ... you would write the most beautiful and magnificent of poems! Thank you ... with love.
Kate this is really lovely. The notion of writing a poem in the sand is so ephemeral, it makes it feel like a wide-awake dream. There's also a little ambiguity, about who is dreaming of whom. It's just beautiful.
DB: That you see so very well the ambiguity and the possibilities of the dream ... makes me smile!
What delightful verse! It's poetry like this that keeps me coming back to the watering hole! msp
I think it was Ray Bradbury who wrote a wonderful short story about a couple who visits a beach in southern France and it is evening and the guy goes for an evening stroll on the beach. He spots a distant figure with a stick in hand drawing wonderful quick sketches in the sand and then disappears into the distance as the guy realizes it was Picasso.
When he returns to the hotel where his wife is waiting she asks him why he is so sad. He replies that the tide is coming in.
Lovely! Makes me think my Little Kate might be in the throes of love. Hmm?

kitd: Then I'll do my best to keep writing! : )

Jan: I love that story! Thank you!

Lezlie: I'm just an absolute and hopeless romantic!

sixpixeo: I do so appreciate your lovely comment ... THANK YOU!
If you're an absolute, hopeless romantic, then I'm in good company dear Kate. I love your poem !

Little Kate : If you are not in love, you should be. How nice an image...almost dream-like.
Who dreams of whom? Perhaps love is a dream for each of them?

Fusun: YAY!!!! Absolute and Hopeless Romantics unite!!!!!
JD: With love we are lifted up and can make it through so many of life's hurdles. Love is grand! And, yes .... who dreams of whom indeed? Dreams and love are the stuff of magic!
Scylla: Dear friend, that you find beauty in this tonight warms my heart.
This has the sound of luscious, young love...like the waves slapping the shore ever so lightly in the early hours of the morning...
A lovely poem, Kate. I hope your dreams become real and the wait is soon over.
Enjoy your "reconnection" when he gets there!
Looks like my comment from last night didn't stick.
I hope all your dreams come true, my friend Kate.
And as far as teleporting - we will have to meet somewhere in the middle (where would that be?)
Really great ocean poem..there can never be too many and this was exceptional, Kate. Love'piercing cerulean sea..my favorite color when painting sometimes..unique color!
I liked how the words painted a visual picture as well as a soundtrack for this waiting....wonderfully written. R
Oh this just makes me sigh...r
Oh lovely love, inspired by a dream? Perhaps you should let your heart do some calling. It is a very good time for such things, I think you should give it a try. Love to you.
I can't thank you enough for your kind words.

Thank you too for being such wonderful friends.
